It varies a little bit based on how many teams are in your sectionals, and yes you can lose some matches and still come back and win state, but.... At the start of the state tournament, *EVERYONE* is 15 wins away from being a state champion. 15 matches, that's it. Win your first 4, and you're a Sectional Champion and only 11 matches away Win another 3, and you're a Regional Champion. Competition getting much tougher but only 8 wins to go now Win the next 4, and you have won your Semistate. Two nights and 4 wins among the best in the state is your final goal 15 wins.
