cadet130 Posted January 22, 2013 Share Posted January 22, 2013 The Bulldogs had a great showing at the CU Open this past Saturday. There were representatives from NAIA, NCAA D1, D2, and Juco schools. Eight Bulldogs placed in the top 4 and we had 5 finalists (3 Champions). Among those Champs was Mishawaka native, Steven Sandefer, who won the tournament in dominating fashion. The wrestler ranked 3rd in the country (NAIA) placed 4th in this same weight class. South Bend native, Joe Gallegos, made the bump to heavyweight for the remainder of the season and placed 4th. In the process he defeated the 15th ranked (NAIA) wrestler from Lindsey Wilson. I'd also like to note that Evansville native Trevor Moody (Indiana University) won the 141 lb. weight class defeating a returning NAIA All-American in the finals. Great job, Trevor. We will be in action tomorrow against 11th ranked U of the Cumberlands and then again at the Central Baptist Open in Arkansas. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
