Brent Browner signs with Indiana Tech - from News and Tribune

NEWS AND TRIBUNE

 

Brent Browner, JHS 2012 Graduate, shown above signing with Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne.  Brent will be wrestling with the Warrior?s next fall in his freshman year of college.  While at Jeffersonville High School Brent was a 2 time sectional champ, a 2 time regional champ, a 3x semi-state qualifier, a multiple time Greco Roman and Freestyle state place winner, a Capitol City Classic Champion, a two time Hoosier Hills Conference Honorable mention, and won 37 matches in his senior season.  Brent started wrestling in the third grade and wrestled for Wilson Elementary, Parkview middle school and JHS. 

 

Brent joins another Jeff High Grad, Elijah Curtley to attend Indiana Tech.  Both these Jeff high wrestlers will be wrestling for Mike Ester and the second year program.  In only 1 year of competing the Warriors placed 17th in the nation in wrestling, and #2 academically in NAIA Wrestling. 

 

With Brent deciding upon Indiana Tech to wrestle, this makes the third college wrestling commitment for the JHS wrestling team this season (Alonzo Shepherd to IU). 

 

The JHS Wrestling team has now sent 19  kids to wrestle in college in the past 7 years.  Those schools are Indiana University, Indiana Tech-Fort Wayne, Campbellsville-KY, Cumberland-TN, Triton -  IL, Dana College-  Nebraska, Limestone -South Carolina, Kings College- TN, University of Indianapolis, Trine University-Angola, IN, Waldorf College-Iowa, and Mt. St. Joseph?s- Cincinnati.
