Wrestling Getting In The Holiday Spirit

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue wrestling team is feeling the holiday spirit once again, heading back into the cold to help the Salvation Army and the Purdue Club of Tippecanoe Country this Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Walmart located in West Lafayette. This has become an annual tradition for the Boilermakers and is one of many efforts by the team to help out in the community.

 

"We're always looking for ways to be an active part of the community and this is something we enjoy doing every year," said Purdue's fifth-year head coach Scott Hinkel. "Not only are we helping a worthy cause, but it gives our guys a chance to go out there, get out of their comfort zones, meet some local people and build relationships."....

Wrestling Opens Big Ten Duals With 22-17 Win Over Michigan State

 

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue wrestling team opened the 2011-12 Big Ten Dual season in impressive fashion Friday night, topping visiting Michigan State University (MSU), 22-17, in Holloway Gymnasium. Freshman Braden Atwood and Brandon Nelsen led the effort with pins at 184 and 141 pounds, respectively, while seventh-ranked sophomore Cash? Quiroga had a triumphant return to the lineup at 133 pounds...

Wrestling Edged By #18 Northwestern On Senior Day, 21-18

 

All three Purdue seniors were victorious in the final home dual of their careers.

 

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue wrestling team said a bittersweet goodbye to its three seniors on Sunday, losing a narrow, 21-18 dual to 18th-ranked visiting conference rival Northwestern at Holloway Gymnasium. The two squads split the 10 matches, 5-5, but the Wildcats picked up a few more bonus points, improving to 7-4 (3-4 Big Ten), while the Boilermakers dropped to 7-9 overall and 2-5 in conference duals...
