RAGUOC79
Look for someone below the easy picks at 160 to be a top four......Brown, Harrell, Becker have all had really close matches with a couple of guys at the top, Anderson, Von Wasson, this going to be a fun to watch weight class. After this week we will find out if any of these guys are on Von's level from a Richmond regional perspective----it would be harrell, brown then becker in that order of who I think has the best shot from this regional to make it to state other than wasson, should be interesting, I would surely pay more than $6 for this weekends regional at Richmond, we should have like a possibility of4 state champ from that regional and 160 is gonna be exciting as will other weight classes, o and the NCSS , that's gonna be a treat again this year, good luck to all. NLCards
Rankings ARE and SHOULD be based on who is thought to be the better wrestlers, NOT how far they may make it in the tournament. Great job Thornton.
gogoplata89
Ian Early at 189 is a sophomore. I believe this has been stated more than once. But Richards v.s. Early in the first round will be the one to watch.
neverdiewrestling
Rankings ARE and SHOULD be based on who is thought to be the better wrestlers, NOT how far they may make it in the tournament. Great job Thornton. Rankings are all about how far a wrestler will make it in the tournment......that is the only real grading you can have......saying someone is better then someone else means they will make it farther then that person not that they will just get beat by someone better.... Thornton
Actually rankings are exactly who is thought to be the better wrestler. The actual tournament will decide who goes farther. The rankings can disregard circumstances like getting a bad draw. The best example I can give for this is a situation that happened 2 years ago at 112. Camden Eppert, Brandon Wright and Jimmy Schoettle were ranked 1, 2, 3 in the state that year. But Camden and Brandon were in the same regional. As luck would have it, Jimmy was a sectional champ from the Perry Meridian regional, but drew into the Pendleton Heights runner up in the round to go. So the #1 and #3 ranked kids in the state had to wrestle with only one getting to advance. Does that mean that every wrestler who made it to state was superior to Jimmy? I would say no. From your perspective, I assume you would say that the 3rd ranked kid in the state was no better than 17th. If so, then we agree to disagree. chasing ankles
Perfect example of why we should have full wrestlebacks, at least at the semi-state level. Good luck to all this weekend.

I agree, we have full wrestlebacks at sectionals but not at semi-state. I'm just saying...
when where wrestler
I know this has been said on other threads but roytek at 112 moved to georgia. I wonder how he's doing down there. He probably didn't get into a school as serious as Cathedral was.

That is an interesting fact and give the rules a good while and they will change. (Kind of like how the 4 seeds from regional now move on.) Potential problems have a way of getting fixed. Drooke
I was looking through the brackets and saw a unique name (for me) with a very good record. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info about Ibragim Komilov - 189. Thanks in advance.
tipco3
komilov is a big kid looks strong, won PH Regional, he was a head taller than anybody else at 189. Good wrestler it appeared to me. Never heard of him before Saturday.

learntherules
I doubt that he was no where near as strong as Jones Mike took him down with three bear hugs and got back points the kid got1 for a exscape I was just stating a rumor I heard which had nothing to do with Mike Johnson-Jones. I've only see the NC kid wrestle a few times anyway. More than one person is allowed to be strong. Obviously you must spend a lot of time in the weight room yourself because you clearly missed about a semester of English class.

gazoni
jones will have his hands full this weekend with Sliga. Sliga is really slick I dont even look for Jones to make it to the finals. Jones might have his hands full with Sliga, but remember Sliga is a freshman. This time last year Sliga was in middle school and Jones was at New Castle for his second trip to state. This year will be his third and final year look for some big noise Saturday. Jones is a man among boys. I look to see a close match but Jones will wear Sliga down in the third period if he makes it to the third. Jones Semi-State Champ.
