This is three (3) different articles on the signings of local kids that have signed with the brand new Calumet College program. (I didn't shorten the length w/web link due to this--instead of 3 separate posts) This info was copied from the Calumet College's athletics web site.

 

 

Highland?s Tyler to Wrestle for the Crimson Wave

 

4/2/09 - Calumet College of St. Joseph athletic director Peter Haze Haring has announced the signing of Johnathan Tyler, a two time semi-state qualifier, from Highland High School to a national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers in wrestling with the Crimson Wave.

 

The highly talented Highland High School wrestler is also a two time regional and sectional runner-up, two time Griffith Dual Champion, two time Hobart Dual Champion, two time runner up at the Harvest Classic.  Tyler was also a team captain his junior and senior seasons compiling a career record of 87-36.

 

Tyler will bring a hard work ethic to the new the program and really concentrate on improving throughout his career. ?College wrestling is a different beast, it will take a lot of hard work and more dedication, there are no slouches in college wrestling, I have to bring everything every day.? Said Tyler on his transition from high school to college wrestling

 

Tyler will study elementary education while attending Calumet College of St. Joseph.  ?I really want to buckle down on my academics? said Tyler.  Hard work and dedication will be seen in Tyler not only on the mats but in the classroom as well.

 

?Johnathan will become a big part in building the wrestling program here at Calumet College of St. Joseph.  His experience on the mat will bring a lot to this young team.  We are very excited to have Johnathan here part of the Crimson Wave athletic department.?  Said Athletic Director Peter Haze Haring on Johnathan Tyler

 

Anderson Chooses Crimson Wave Wrestling

 

3/17/09 - Calumet College of St. Joseph athletic director Peter Haze Haring has announced the signing of Coty Anderson, a two time NCC Heavy Weight Conference Champion, from Highland High School to a national letter of intent to wrestle and pursue his academic career at Calumet College of St. Joseph.

 

The well decorated Highland wrestler is a two time semi-state qualifier, sectional champion and two time conference champion.  Anderson was named to the NCC All-Conference first team his junior and senior seasons along with LAC Honorable Mention his sophomore season.  Anderson was also a back to back Lake County Champion, Griffith Super Duals Champion, and LC Harvest Classic Champion.  During his senior year Anderson also claimed the Border Wars Heavy Weight Title.  He finished his senior season with an overall record of 29-2 with 23 falls.

 

Anderson will come to Calumet College of St. Joseph to study Criminal Justice.  ?I decided on Calumet College of St. Joseph because it is close to home.  They actually care if you succeed you?re not just a number and I like that.?  Said Coty Anderson on choosing Calumet College of St. Joseph  Anderson will pursue his bachelor?s degree while competing as a Crimson Wave athlete.  Applying his passion for wrestling to the class room is what will make him succeed at a high level.

Gregory Becomes First for Wrestling

 

3/10/09 - Calumet College of St. Joseph athletic director Peter Haze Haring has announced that, Cody Powers Gregory, a 171-189 lb weight class wrestler, from Perry Meridian High School, has signed a national letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic careers with the Crimson Wave.

 

The former Perry Meridian standout wrestled varsity for two years while competing with the state?s toughest competition.  Gregory ended his career at Perry Meridian High School with an overall record of 123-19.  Gregory also wrestled for the Team Indiana National team where his senior year he placed 4th at the national meet, along with a 4th place finish by the team.

 

Cody Powers Gregory will come to Calumet College of St. Joseph to study Media and Fine Arts.  Gregory?s strong work ethic on the mat will surely carry over in the class room. 

 

?We are excited to have a wrestler with the talent of Cody here at Calumet College of St. Joseph.  He (Gregory) will bring a lot of experience to this first year program.  Cody will become a vital asset to the building of this program as it moves forward.?  Said Athletic Director Peter Haze Haring.   

 

Calumet College of St. Joseph to add wrestling for 2009-2010

 

2/15/09 ? Calumet College of St. Joseph proudly announces that the athletic department will add the sport of wrestling for the 2009-2010 season.

 

?This is another exciting moment for Crimson Wave athletics at CCSJ? states Athletic Director Peter Haze Haring. ?Adding the sport of wrestling to Calumet College of St. Joseph will be another unique opportunity that the College will offer to a prospective student-athlete. The local area is rich with wrestling talent and we hope that we can fill a very important niche within the northwest Indiana and Chicagoland wrestling community.?

 

Calumet College of St. Joseph is a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and will be the first member institution to offer the sport of wrestling.

 

Wrestlers interested in Crimson Wave wrestling should fill out a Recruit Profile, to provide the Crimson Wave Athletic Department with the proper contact information.
