    Details:

ANDERSON -- Anderson's wrestlers have pronounced themselves ready for the Madison County meet they'll host Saturday.

The Indians tuned up with a 58-14 dual-meet win over Hamilton Heights at the Tipi, as they captured 11 of the 14 matches, seven by fall.

"They surprised me," said Anderson coach Sean Clark of his wrestlers' dominance. "We wrestled (Hamilton Heights) last year, and it came down to the last match (the Indians won). We had a great showing tonight."

Anderson pitched a shutout through the first half of the meet, storming ahead 34-0 over a Huskies squad that had two juniors, two freshmen and 10 sophomores.

Eighteen of the Indians' points came from the three Williams brothers -- KJ, KD and Romello.

KJ Williams at 120 pounds gave a heroic effort against Caleb Jones. Williams was down 4-1 in the opening period and developed a cramp, which brought on a brief stoppage. When action resumed, Williams got a reversal, took the lead and built it up to 17-8 before pinning Jones with 48 seconds left in the match.

KD Williams, KJ's sophomore twin brother, made it 34-0 Indians by beating Cordell Cowan 7-5 at 132. That came after freshman Romello Williams gained a forfeit win at 106.

After junior 220-pounder Venice McCullough opened the match with a 9-3 decision over Alex Naylor, senior Elijah Love at 275 pinned Trevor Cunningham near the end of the first period.

Also during Anderson's opening run, sophomore Willie Dennison gave his team four meet points with a 17-6 major decision over Devonte Henson at 113.

Two matches later, sophomore Christian Chavez pinned Jake Bronner with 38 seconds left in the first period of their 126 encounter. Chavez (6-0) is the Indians' only unbeaten wrestler.

At 145, senior Jakob Hagerman got the Indians third opening-period fall, over Alex Krause with 42 seconds remaining.

Senior 160-pounder Devon Browder celebrated his 18th birthday in grand style, pinning Bobby Williams 39 seconds into their match.

Keegan Perez moved up from 170 to 182, and the senior scored a mid-match fall over Milton Myers.

In the final match (195), sophomore Kadin Johnson pinned Noah Lawson with 13 seconds gone in the second period.

"We improve every time," Clark said. "We have implemented what we call a pin chain. Ohio State made it famous, and the University of Miami made it famous in football this year. It's a great incentive for them to come out and stick them and get six for the team. We are trying to be the hammer and to make an impression every time."

Clark said going into the county meet, his wrestlers are familiar with many of their counterparts, having faced each other in high school and middle school.

"My guys are not afraid of attacking the competition, even if they say, 'this guy's the best,'" he said. "They look at it as next man up, one match at a time. We want to win (the team title), but we want to focus match-by-match."
