  1. There have been many serious king pins in college wrestling. Looking at the group listed who would you hate to go bottom against?
  2. We can wrestle Tuesday January 14 or next week January 20-24. Are you interested or any of the teams involved interested?
  3. Please contact Blackford HS about joining this meet for 2014-2015. Greg Garringer blackfordwrestling@gmail.com
  4. May everyone have a happy & safe holiday season. Remember the reason for the season! O GOD OF POWER AND MIGHT- Your servant Jacob wrestled with an angel... And won! Immediately his name changed from Jacob to Israel, which means, "He who strives with God." In the sport of wrestling, help me to strive: not only to do my best, but also to respect my opponent and honer the rules. Away from the mat, grant to increase my faith, and direct my struggles to choose good over evil. I ask these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
  5. not too bad 8) this will be a song kids will be warming up with on their ipods i'm sure.

  9. is there any updates on the IHSWCA fall clinic ? we haven't seen it yet & wanted to check on location, dates, etc...
  10. does going to the Disney Duals or training over moratorium going to make that big of a difference in the upcoming season? giving the kids time to be kids & coaches the opportunity to spend time with their families should be more important. some people/coaches won't agree but the moratorium was created for a reason.
  11. shortjay i'm filing a protest > http://www.bigten.org/blog/wrestling/#
  12. so if you are in the 285 class, tie your shoes, & have a heartbeat you'll be going to the show?
  13. we had a small group from jay county work with the humphrey group this past fall @ hse. very good instruction & easy to get to from FW area. i think moe from peru & other kids from north were there also. http://humphreywrestling.com
  14. will rtc information at all state locations be posted on the camps/clinics page? we hope to travel to 3-4 different venues this coming spring. we know the iswa site will have things listed we just like to use this site better.
  15. i love big 10 wrestling. some teams more than others. when the guys were under the lights @ indy all i kept hearing was purdue, purdue, purdue. what does IU need to do to keep our studs in state? joe has a jersey conection which is obvious from the roster. the illinois kids almost out number the in-state guys. of the seven indiana hs wrestlers only 4 have won a state title. one of those transferred in & the other is the coaches son. i think the staff @ IU is good so much that we plan to attend their summer camp. we are very excited with the format which is similar to the one @ UM which we like. i just wanted to get feed back because the boilers are over loaded with indiana kids. also, this year as in the past we've had kids even go outside the state [tsirtsis brothers iowa & northwestern, howe wisconsin/maybe michigan, humphrey/osu+dad, and so on]. 16. they had some rotc guys running the club this year. i think they went belly up :'( the website & all forms of contact are now gone. i will try to get info from school and send a post next week. is he a grad or current student?
  17. how are things looking fro coach gilbert & the crimson wave for 2012-2013 season? i think this program could be a hidden gem for the state but not sure of what is available for our HS athletes there.
  18. whatever did you watch NW/IU dual. yes that would be 12" bmt on wheat, pepper cheese, drag it through the garden but leave the onions, & a little chipoltle sauce
  19. i have a pick em wager with shortjay on the 285 guys and how things will play out. is the criteria the same this year that you need a top 7 finish or wild card to go to NCAAs?
  20. thank you for your reply. i'll check openmat.com and others.
  21. you touched on an area that struck me at the very beginning of this wrestling season. i had been away from the sport of wrestling for a few years. this past season i joined one of my former athletes as his assistant. he asked me to attend the state coaches meeting. i was shocked by the small turn out of coaches from our state. was this due to apathy or were there other things keeping people away? i don't remembering seeing any IHSAA members in attendance either. in years past i've attended clinics hosted by the illinois & ohio coaches association. they have a very large involved & vocal group. i'm not a buckeye fan but our neighbors to the east have impressed me with their structuring. http://www.ohswca.com/ i am also a track coach. at this years coaches we had over 700 coaches in attendance. the presence of the IHSAA was very strong as it has been in the past. i'm not sure that the IHSAA will ever give the sport of wrestling the same attention football, basketball, or baseball gets. however, with a stronger group of coaches in our state when can work on future issues such as wrestle backs, team state, etc...
  22. does anyone know when the seeds come out for big 10 championships? i posted on college discussion area but no feed back as of yet.
  23. Lucas congratulations on your accomplishment. This will weekend should serve as a motivation to future Westfield wrestler. Good luck with your future plans.
