DECATUR, Ind. (21Alive) - Longtime Bellmont wrestling head coach B.J. Faurote has retired.The team announced Thursday that Faurote is hanging up the head gear after 27 seasons as head coach.
Faurote compiled a 576-78-2 record (87.8 percent winning).
During his tenure, the Braves won the 1994 state championship, 3 state runners-up, 14 semi-states championships, 19 regional championships, 24 sectional championships and 20 conference championships.
As a student, Faurote won the 1980 state championship in the 98-lb. weight class.
He was inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2012.
