  1. Peyton Schoettle. Great composure, desire, and will to win every position. Impressive performance the entire weekend. Congrats!!
  2. Not sure its random but it changes in New Castle. Same weight got same place out of Perry Regional 2 years in a row, and drew North Mongomery regional one year & Richmond the next.
  3. Kody Glithero over Alex Cottey at Perry Meridian in OT at 113 2020 has to be up there. Cottey a 4X state finalist 2X state champ.
  4. you are misremembering a little. Wilson up the enitre match. Up 7-2 when he hit the 2nd spladle. Never down in that match
  5. Also some kids used to wrestle to stay active & be involved. It didn't require the sport to be their entire identity. Some still do, and I hear the "he has no heart" or comments similar. Well maybe you don't know what that kid has going on in his life, or maybe this isnt as important to him as you want it to be. Thats on you not him. This forum is an example of that. Grown adults get online & critique the performances of youth & adolescents match by match. I'm not knocking that as much as saying I for sure didnt have to deal with that. I got an "atta boy" when I won things, but certainly didnt get micro analyzed when I lost. I love the passion in this sport btw, and the attention this forum brings to the sport. Kudos IndianaMat...sincerely. I don't want my comments to be taken as a negative to forums like this, more to spotlight that they have it tougher in some ways than we did.
  6. I find this topic interesting. My kid worked 2x as hard as I did. My youth was spent playing baseball, soccer, basketball, etc. In Middle school I ran XC, played basketball, wrestled, baseball, & ran track. Local wrestling club was 2x a week for freestyle in spring. When not doing that I was playing pickup basketball with friends, organizing a baseball game in the local field with soda cans & paper plates as bases with ghost runners, doing the same for football games etc. I cant remember the last time I saw ANY kids doing any of this. The reason?...we have monetized youth sports & make them practice 24/7, and we call them soft. These kids we call soft are going to club practices, RTCs, and academies all week every week starting at early ages. How many are single sport athletes at ages younger than 12? Many. Kids arent softer, just different & burnout is real.
  7. Tony Elkins maybe...who I beat ticket round 93. That Ft Wayne semi state was brutal at 119 those 2 years. A young Tim Myers got 2nd to Derek Crousere that year, went on to take the state title, and a Fargo Cadet FS title to put the cherry on top of the sundae
  8. I have a really good friend in media. In his spare time he does PA for major sports for a D1 university. He accompanied me to the IHSAA State Finals many years ago & we had press passes. While taking everything in early Saturday he said "this guy on the mic is really da** good!". After we capped off the final that night he couldn't stop talking about how good the announcer was, and he still makes comments about this 30 years later. Legend.
  9. Grown adults talking disparagingly about kids on a public forum tells us all we need to know about you as a person.
  10. Yeah I assumed FW semi state. My bad. disregard & carry on.
  11. I believe Josh Hutchens from Plymouth won FW 3x & was 2x State Champ. Has to be on the list somewhere.
  12. Fair enough & that would also make sense in this instance. I know it's hard to do that many weight classes, and age diviions for the ISWA.
  13. Thats not what I'm saying. I'm saying Junior(3rd) gets it over the Cadet 3rd place finisher who lost to someone with no criteria. Rinehart never weighed in is what you are missing. There is no weight reference. Every other competitor has weight recognized from scale. Rinehart should have never been in the bracket. If you want major discrepancies though you can look at the freetsyle brackets from last year. Particularly Junior 145 and 182.
  14. At Junior 152 the one on the bottom won, and was 3rd at Junior previous year while others were Cadet so that takes criteria. The previous champion(cadet) didnt weigh in or show so a non factor & have no clue why he was even in the bracket. There were 2 other state qualifiers who had no criteria. I'm curious where your complaint is with this weight?
  15. Yeah not sure why hes still being slept on? Dominated post season up to this point with no losses, and proven wins over opponents ranked much higher. I would also house that bet.
  16. Some of us knew. The rest are finding out. Underrated by everyone. Tough draw with Lone & Boe in his quarter bracket, but he will be a tough out.
  17. Beat many in front of him then & over the summer. This is for fun & things shake out.
  18. There are many confusing things at that weight.
  19. 2020 Braydon Lowery(Sr) 126 - 1st Bryce Lowery(Fr) 106 - 4th
  20. Coach King is a great human being, and I learned as much about life as I did wrestling competing for him, He was always the guy who taught you to take the hard right instead of the easy wrong. Always there to pump you up for a tough match, as well as pick you up after a bad loss. His positive influence outside the wrestling room with his student athletes cannot be overstated. His contributions to the sport over the past 37 years I hope put him in contention for Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame. He is deserving. I could not be more happy for Andrew & the team. Good luck. Sincerely Dustin Wilson
  21. Shoey out of curiosity where did you go to med school?
  22. I hope we can get through the season, but the thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it.
