    Hmm. 4’s that wouldn’t make it out of most sectionals? Then what you’re saying is the favorites will win. Their can’t be dark horses then? I’m confused

    It already has happened. In the 70’s there was no semi state. Regionals then state.

    No dark horses,this far into the best high school tournament in the USA. All are capable, or would not have gotten here.

    I think the Hoosiers just need to show up and go three periods every match. I’m sure Ryan will tee off on the out maned Indiana squad.

    I’m not going to lie , this looks bad for Indiana. I can see Ohio hitting us with both barrels. At 184 brothers may face each other. But man what a tall order for Indiana.

    For the most part this year he has controlled his matches, I’m not convinced he’s learned completely how to set up his shots? He’s starting to telegraph what he’s doing. Stating to far out, then getting countered. Not sharp on offense. Wore down? Weight? Just an observation

    I’m probably fretting over nothing. I don’t think he’s at his best right now. Weight cut or sickness or burnout. But he seems to be running in neutral. He is a legit AA’er this year. Maybe over training. Hope he gets back on track.

    Probably one of the most exciting duals I’ve seen. The cards had to fall perfectly for Indiana to win this one. Had to run the table. Glad I was there to witness.

    I’m with you ,crowd was great. To bad tje high school people missed a good opportunity to see top notch action.

    This comparison stuff gets complicated. Sure dominant team looks good. But tje missing factor usually is how do you compare all the competitors against each other in the era of the ,so called dominant team ,in a fair statistical way.

    As I have mentioned from day one, since Angel took the program over, tje wrestlers on Indianas team may be out maned , but they always fight for 3 periods. I still stand by this.

    Remember, 3 guys back on redshirt, plus I don’t see Gilcher getting back this season, to late with the way Lillard is performing. Next year, Gilcher and Lillard will be 65 and 74. Bullock heavy Moran and potter coming in the lighter weights. Looks good

    Having the match on Sunday will give the high school fans a chance to watch or attend. Always liked Roger Chandler, states coach. Him being a former Hoosier.

    Indiana needs this one to get itself off the bottom tier of the conference and into the next level.

    Seems like the squads match up fairly even. Hope Indiana can make it 3 in a row. Saldate will give Lee all he can handle as the featured bout.

    Yea, it’s all relative isn’t it. Hoosiers ain’t world beaters but starting to progress out of the massive dumpster fire from past. With green horn Head coach and coaches. Not bad. Will be lots more peaks and valleys as it goes. Hopefully higher peaks than the valleys.

    The writing is on the wall this year. The Hoosiers won’t be on top he bottom of the conference this year after Purdue and Maryland wins. And still have a few more winnable matches in their minds , Northwestern and mich. St. But real tell-tell for every program, regardless of team standings ,is how many you get qualified for the NCAA championship. Rest , but staying mentally sharp ,for a lot of athletes this time of the year ,is an important strategy. To be able to Peak thru big ten tournament into the championship. Anyway IU ain’t on the bottom.

    Football is feeling the same effects. The top ,5 or 6 ,rotate whos on top each year. And pretty much dictated by money inflow. A minor sport, I think is effected as much by administration as it is by money. It’s so important to have AD’s in your corner.

    Hate it for the fans, like me. I know ducking is “in” now but it is hard thing to debate not knowing facts of these matters. Wrestling is a contact sport. So many minor things can blossom into something that will get worse before it gets better and if you keep aggravating it you’ll never heal enough to be at peak. A tight rope to walk for athletes and coaches.
