  4. Jordan was on the UNI wrestling team when my brother Alex first went there and knows him quite well and in our family we definitely back Jordan and there was university politics that were involved and Jordan was definitely put into a really crappy situation. I would trust any kids with him.
  5. getting booed is fun! way more fun than being cheered for. This goes out to all my boys who get booed on a regular basis!
  6. not gonna lie this is a pretty lame discussion thread hahaha
  7. I had the pleasure of coaching Zach at schoolboy duals a couple of years ago and after only spending a week with him he made a definite impression on me. He was an extremely hard worker, a tremendous wrestler, and most of all a good genuine kid. He was a complete blast and I can not remember him without a smile on his face. Zach and his family will be in my prayers. We will miss you Zach.
  8. the biggest reason for class wrestling is to allow more exposure to more individual wrestlers from colleges and universities. Having more state champions and multiple time placers and winners only helps the chances of kids being given scholarships and opportunities to wrestle at the next level. Who cares if there isnt a "true" champion if using a class system helps give more kids opportunities to go to college then good for that.
  9. congrats Mishawaka! Guerra is the man just like his older brother was. if Everyone had perfect sportsmanship I don't believe sports would be any fun haha. They are high school kids let them have fun
  10. Hey Snyder it's cool man we have always been in the same boat and those are still some of my favorite talks between us!...Alex was and will always be a much better wrestler than I was, the guy was a 4x ncaa qualifier and in the round of 12 three times and now is a coach at Michigan state, where as I currently reside on my couch at school haha. I was just really good at using my lack of athleticism for me and maybe once or twice bending the rules in my favor (this is where you see a wink and a cheesy smile). But I do know when they were in high school together Dez and Alex would have some battles in the room.
  11. Fabian Chavez of Mishawaka anytime we were having one of them legendary "OH my God" practices would always yell "Leave your body" no one really knew what it meant but we damn sure started working harder or he would beat us down.
  12. Not a fun venue being a fan but as a wrestler wrestling under those lights with standing room only and all eyes on you is pretty awesome. Also, knowing how many amazing wrestlers have come through this semi-state in the last decade makes it one very special place for a high school kid to be competing.
  13. I hope coach Weimer can show both of these two Big 10 programs how the ball game is played on the mats before the wrestling starts...honestly this usually is more exciting than any wrestling going on anywhere. haha
  14. Do people forget that even after an athlete moves from one school to another they don't just automatically win because of the school they are at?...You still have to put in your time in the room and at workouts. doesn't matter what sport what school the kids still put their time in and so do the coaches. I don't care who wins im just tired of hearing people complain. There is nothing you can do about it so just suck it up. Both teams will be good this year Harper is doing a great job at Penn because he is a really good coach and gets people excited about the program. The same goes for Snyder.
