  1. What are the biggest swing matches to look for between BB and CP? Other than just bonus points - which matches are really up in the air as to who will win?
  2. Why didn't Grange (Penn) wrestle vs Critchfield (EMD)? Was looking forward to a great match!
  3. I will add.. hearing the crowd noise and reactions to the match is nice to have
  4. Really been impressed with Merritt @ 152 for Center Grove. Super aggressive, and not afraid to go for some big moves!
  5. Congrats to Tell City, Bellmont and Columbus East! Let's get the 4a show rolling!
  6. I thought championships were going to all be at 4? 2A championship Bellmont vs Jay County has been good - crowd is really into it and there have been some close matches. Wood vs Litchfield is tied at 4-4 and they are both going at a high pace
  7. Really good dual between Cathedral and Mater Dei. Several close matches that could have changed the outcome. Congrats to the Irish
  8. Koontz (Perry Meridian) over Hayden Watson (Center Grove) 5-4 Watson couldn't quite get to a takedown in the last 2 periods. Also a 2nd stalling call for a point against Watson as he was trying to close out a period was a big deciding swing
  9. I think based on these brackets, I've broke wide open the mystery of no TrackWrestling at the Spartan Classic! Clearly someone paid a fortune for hundreds of these brackets to be custom printed in the late 80's and now they must recover their cost. If you take a closer look at this stellar illustration, the top man appears to be wearing some saggy tights left over in the team's closet from the 1970s. He's applying the classic "wing and tight waist" move on the bottom guy, trying to muscle his way to the pin. Can't say for sure what is up with the skunk hair-do he has going on. The bottom guy is sporting a mask with no eye-holes, so maybe he's seen VisionQuest and has decided to throw all his chips in and wrestle this match blind. Not to be outdone by the Blue School, he also has some tights that match his mask, and he has cleverly pulled off the singlet/kneepad fashion match too. He may lose miserably, but he WILL LOOK MARVELOUS doing so! Maybe someone local can verify how large the stash of brackets is for the Spartan Wrestling Classic, and then we can use some simple math to extrapolate the first viable year that Trackwrestling may be considered. Good luck to all the wrestlers today and if you have a mismatch, maybe try to muscle your way to the old wing/waist, then throw a sly wink up at the crowd
  10. Yes, it's verified - Northwestern's website: https://nusports.com/sports/midlands Unfortunately, this is near Chicago - which just implemented an indoor vaccine mandate for bars, restaurants and gyms. Assuming this may have fallen under that consideration and organizers knew there was no way to enforce a mandate across such a large number of athletes and spectators It's a missed opportunity for those college wrestlers looking for some great competition - but on the optimistic side maybe it will give them some more time around family for the holidays
  11. Good luck on your continued career, Mr Garcia My question to @TeamGarcia - how are you going to manage road trips to see him wrestle? New Jersey is a long haul!!
  12. IHSAA only uses 7 out of 12 possible bracket combinations?!? That is nuts Which aren't used (and why)?
  13. Not sure I'm in agreement here. Imagine wrestling the match of your life at semi-state and knocking off the #1 wrestler in state... only to have him seeded higher than you at the State finals the next weekend I would be in favor of forming the brackets with the semistate champions-only setup as a 1v4 2v3. If you didn't win semistate however, you follow wherever the random brackets take you
  14. @Y2CJ41 Maybe you can add a section for "Team Reporter" on each teams page, similar to assistant coaches. See if a parent, team manager, coach or someone will step up and take responsibility for each team with the buy-in from the coach. Making it semi-official may get more consistent results especially if the coach knows someone else will be taking care of it for them
  15. I believe Y2 said coaches (or a team manager) can simply take a cell phone photo of the scorebook and upload the picture. Coaches need to start encouraging each other to do this for the good of the sport
  16. Is it the "Wrestlers to Watch" that shows if you click the Date on "This Week" events? I'm going senile so maybe that was already there. If that is the new feature (even if it is the old feature) that is a very nice addition! Now to make it even better, on the "This Week" list of events, add a little icon that shows the number of spotlight matchups for each event so I know which have the most big matches and can click to check those out
  17. Didn't see anything yet, but Happy Birthday to IndianaMat according to the calendar!
  18. @Galagore One thing I thought of the other day, I'm curious on your take as the coach of a small school. One of the major issues at small HS is not having the practice partners to help a wrestler get better. I know that inter-school practices are not allowed at the HS level - but what about Jr High/ Middle Schools? Could those middle school teams hold joint practices to boost the practice numbers, and better prepare the young wrestlers for the high school level? As for the youth program retention - I think one of the primary goals I would have is to encourage the parents to really bond with each other. As families get closer, I think it really increases the likelihood of the kids staying with the program. This would include doing social gatherings beyond the regular wrestling practices - cookouts, cornhole tourneys, etc. Let the kids get together and just be kids at the same time. One side bar to this is that such an arrangement can get "cliquish" so I would make it clear to the families that one goal is to better integrate the new club parents into the social group. I have been to many wrestling tournaments and duals over the years, and have noticed even at the high school level that many parents will all sit apart from each other - that should be the exception, not the norm
  19. Happy to hear you and your family are ok Mike - get well soon
  20. Calendar looks great to me - however I don't know whether you'd be able to link the Calendar "Events" to your "Results" database or not. Appreciate all your effort to continually improve the site
  21. Here's what I would suggest - first separate them into "Past Duals" and "Upcoming Duals" I think it would be good to group them so each page is a one-week chunk, showing the Dates covered along the top (ex: Sunday, Nov 14 - Saturday, Nov20) Default the view to "Past Duals" and current week For each week's page, show a sub-header for each Day with matches - with most recent (latest date) at the top Under each day section, list matches with Details first, then matches with Scores, and finally matches that are just 0-0 For me, this would allow me to quickly glance through one week at a time. Here's an example of what I am thinking: < Previous Week Sunday, Nov 14 Saturday, Nov 20 Next Week> Saturday November 20 Details Perry Meridian 40 Details Brownsburg 40 Crown Point 40 Mater Dei 40 FW Carroll 0 Delta 0 Friday November 19 Thursday November 18
  22. Lots of wrestling action yesterday in the opening weekend of IHSAA wrestling - and no results entered?! Come on coaches - surely you can ask one of your assistants, managers or even wrestlers to enter at least the team scores after your matches? Joe has developed and provided an excellent free resource to support and grow the wrestling fan base.. and yet those of us that are remote have no way of tracking the scores week to week. As a wrestling community, if we want to get more support and reporting coverage - then we have to help ourselves out. It should take about 5 minutes (maybe 15 if you are a slow typer and you are willing to enter all the individual results) to go through your scorebook and hit the Submit button. Maybe someone can get some support from Robert Faulkens to encourage coaches to enter results for the betterment of the sport?
  23. And... I now see that the teams *ARE ALREADY LINKED* Also the date/time links to the event details that includes possible link to Trackwrestling! We are not dealing with a simple website administrator here, folks. Joe is a true visionary/prophet!
  24. This is a fantastic feature Joe! Now, can you get your minions to link the team names to their respective pages?? I am 100% sure you've already thought of this. Another link to trackwrestling for some events would be icing on the cake! Next up - mobile broadcast crews at all of the matchups!!! FloIndiana has a nice ring to it
  25. They may have a lot of wealthy alumni, but their football stadium is not filled every Saturday and I don't see alumni buying anything other than "generic" IU goods and services unless one of the athletes achieves wide name recognition. Bobby Knight's squads got that back in the day because they were on television so often. I can't think of any current IU football players that are recognizable. Maybe one basketball player this year - and wrestlers would be REALLY tough. I think they may be able to land a local tv commercial or something like that, but that's about it.
