  1. Found this video online of a great escape/no escape situation. Who says escape and who says no escape? And what is your reasoning? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rZ3hlcE2Po Hopefully spur a little discussion on this situation and see what everyone has to say.
  2. Correction... After discussing this with others, even after you have turned your opponent this would be illegal if you reached back for the ankle and bowed it. This is something some of us used to allow but will no longer allow by application.
  3. Yes, the bow and arrow is illegal to turn your opponent regardless of the angle you try to turn at from the spine. Once you step across the body with the ankle it is illegal by application. If you have your opponent turned and on his back, you may reach back for the ankle and hold it. Sorry, but I don't have my rule book with me to point to the rule and picture. Bart Welch, IHSAA Official
  4. One of the things we look for in this situation are the hips. If the turk is still in and hips are not square to the mat, then NF would not be awarded yet as the defensive man cannot defend himself. Bart Welch, IHSAA Official
  5. You must contact Mr. Faulkens prior to the weigh in to get the ok for this as well.
  6. Scott, what area of the state are you in? We can get you in contact with a local association to help you out as well. Bart Welch
  7. Streck was called for nuetral stalling due to backing out of bounds. It's an automatic call in college unless there is action. 3 options: Stalling backing out Stalling push/pull out Action
  8. College has a new rule this year. 1 of 3 options will happen when wrestlers go out of bounds. 1: Call is Action. active wrestling/scrambling and wrestlers go out of bounds. 2: stalling backing up. if wrestlers the wrestler makes little to no attempt to stay in bounds and backs out of bounds he will be called for stalling. 3: stalling pushing or pulling. wrestler pushes or pulls the other wrestler out of bounds will be called for stalling. The intent is to keep both wrestlers in bounds.
  9. New Pal cancelled activities for this weekend so has the tournament for Sunday been cancelled?
  10. I believe the second dual with Iowa Western is on today at 4:00.
  11. You'll have to contact them about it. But I know they are willing to work with schools on pricing.
  12. There is a company called BioSurfaceDefense in Indianapolis that can come in and spray your entire room and it lasts for up to 12 months. They have already done a few high schools and even an entire middle school in Indiana. http://www.biosurfacedefense.com/
  13. Tonight I officiated the Greenwood and Center Grove Central middle school match and I have to say it was one of the best matches I have officiated for a number of reasons. Starting with the first j.v. match all the way through till the last match, every wrestler wrestled hard and showed great sportsmanship in every match. The coaches, fans and wrestlers where enthusiastic the entire match. All of these wrestlers, fans and coaches deserve notice as it was an exciting match and a pleasure to officiate. Thank you Bart Welch IHSAA/NCAA Wrestling Official
  14. Warren has dropped to 170.
  15. Looks like some are missing. Purdue's schedule shows a few meets on BTN that you don't have listed.
  16. What are the dates of some of these tournaments?
  17. In your opinion, what are the best and/or biggest tournaments in this state? Why?
  18. It's made by MonoFoil and is available through BioArmorPro here in Indy. sales@bioarmorpro.com. The solution comes in an 8 oz spray bottle so you can either use it to wash your clothes in or spray your equipment. They also have antimicrobial wipes that you can use on your headger. For the mats, wrestling rooms and locker rooms they have to come out and spray the facilities but it lasts for a full year.
  19. There is also a new product keeps anything from living on the mat and in the wrestlers clothing. This also includes shoes, kneepads and headgear.
  20. As we are all preparing for the 2011-2012 wrestling season, please educate yourselves on what to watch for in regards to staph and other communicable diseases. Catching these early by knowing what to watch for and through thorough routine inspections may help save your season. A routine prevention policy is ideal in order to keep your mats and facilities clean. There is also a new company that can help prevent the spread of these diseases. This company can come in and spray your wrestling rooms, mats and locker rooms to place a layer of protection that lasts for up to one year. This is not a disinfectant, but an antimicrobial that kills bacteria, viruses, staph, MRSA, ringworm and other communicable diseases. They also have a solution where you wash your clothes in and lasts for up to 30 washes. This solution is also available in a spray and wipes so wrestlers can even spray their shoes and wipe their headgear. This solution gives you 30 days of protection. Please email sales@bioarmorpro.com for information or IM me. I have already heard of one wrestler getting ringworm recently at a local high school. Bart Welch IHSAA/NCAA Wrestling Official
