  1. I believe y0u need to watch out for the mighty Martin from RC at 138. He should be the favorite?
  2. Is this a common practice for a team to split into two different squads and wrestle in two different tournaments? I have never heard of this. Why wouldn't a Warren Central, Carmel, or Penn split up their football teams and play different varsity teams? Could Penn or any of these big schools conceivably take their JV teams and put them in a small school conferences? Does a win over one of the JV Penn kids in the Lake Central Invite count for a varsity win on a varsity record? It wasn't a varsity win? Just curious how all these scenarios play out. Like I said, I never have heard of this before. Does this happen in other sports?
  3. I was in Indy all day today. It looks like the Bombers took 2nd as a team. Great job wrestlers and coaches. I have seen this team improving all year. Also great job Logansport Berries on your championship. Can someone tell me how the Green-Hileman match went. I know Green won from what I see on here but was it close or what?
  4. He lost 2 matches at 189 giving up about 25lbs. to the Nethercutt kid from Pioneer and Benton Central's kid 5-2. He lost one match at 171 losing to a River Forrest kid. His one loss at 160 was to a very good kid from South Bend Clay. He does have some impressive wins, winning the Hoosier Conference Championship at 160, and quality wins over Indianapolis Pike, Martinsville, Fort Wayne Wayne, Terre Haute North and others. He is a very strong kid and is finally in good wrestling shape. Hopefully both Green and Hileman will make it to the finals. Should be a great match. I'll take Green!
  5. They did not wrestle. Green I believe wrestled 189 that weekend coming out of football. Who are Hileman's quality wins?
  6. I have not seen the seeds for the sectional. Who are the front runners at 160?
  7. Hey D. Larry Doan, what is your interpretation of stalling. As a spectator at the Hoosier Conference Meet I was very confused by your stalling call in the 119lb. finals. The Rensselaer kid was attempting an offensive attack going into his opponent as our kid was trained to do. The opponent chose to back off the mat instead of circling and trying to stay in the required 10ft wrestling circle. According to National Federation Rules the defensive kid should have been called for stalling. What was your reasoning for calling it on the kid that was trying to attack his opponent and score a takedown. Please enlighten me. Thanks!
  8. Now let me say first that I am a firm believer that Logansport will win this sectional easily. As for North White beating every sectional opponent they have faced may be true, but a little misleading. For example, North White and Rensselaer actually tied from the results I saw and that was with Rensselaer just coming out of semi-state football and most of their kids having the bare minimum of practices. My point is congrats North White on a great season, but there will be several teams that have vastly improved throughout the season and the schedule has a whole lot to do with it. Also kids adjusting to their correct weight classes. It should be a war for second place. Good luck to all!
  9. Just added Penn High School today to the Rensselaer 9th and 10th grade tournament. Sitting around 30 teams. Another great addition. If anyone else is interested in bringing some kids, contact our A.D. Ken Hickman at 219-866-5175 ext. 254
  10. In response to Isanoflex, we are a single elimination tournament until the semis, then we wrestle 1st thru 4th. the problem with complete wrestlebacks with a tournament like this is we are on Chicago time and our tournament usually gets over around 3-4 o'clock cst. We get teams on fast time from the Indy area all the way to Mishawaka, and last year even Jennings County made the trip to Rensselaer for the meet. We try to get the kids out of here at a decent hour with the travel by several of the teams. We go 4 mats all day with very minimum breaks. Since we can't go complete wrestlebacks, we do our very best to bring in competition from all over Indiana and hopefully the kids get to wrestle some kids they would not normally see. We also charge per wrestler and not team which is nice for the smaller squads coming. Remember, it is a freshmen wrestling tournament and a sophomore wrestling tournament. I believe that is unique in itself. We are always looking for more teams! Last year there were like 25 different schools represented.
  11. Just to add a little more to what Bomber has already told all of you, the Rensselaer Freshman-Sophomore meet is unique in that it is really 2 seperate tournaments with freshmen wrestling freshmen and sophomores wrestling sophomores. It is an individual tournament so you can enter as many as you would like from the same school in a weight class. We get teams from all over Indiana so we do our very best to pair up 1st round matches so that your wrestler wrestles someone he normally would not see during the regular season. We give out nice medals to the top 3 in each weight class per division. Since it is individual only, we welcome teams that may only have a handful of kids from a school that can wrestle. We also like the teams that can bring 20-30 kids as well. Rensselaer is on Chicago time which helps many of the southern schools for making weigh-in. If you are interested contact Rensselaer Athletic Director Ken Hickman at 219-866-5175 ext. 220. It is a blind draw after weigh-in but you need to pre-register with Mr. Hickman before you come. Hope to see several of you there!
  12. Just for clarification purposes Bomber inadvertantly put their loss to Boone Grove, but instead it was to a tough Beech Grove squad. Great Job Bombers!
  13. Great job Bombers! I was curious how you guys would do with several of your guys just coming out of football. It sounds like you guys did just fine. I think Rensselaer will be very solid once the kids settle into their weights. Is it true that North Newton gives out an amazing beautiful looking trophy for the team champion? I heard that it is amazing.
  14. Kaufman of Rensselaer wins 10-2 in semis vs. Lott of East Chicago! Great Job Randy!
