  1. I agree. I don't think eliminating weights would help much. The low to mid upper weights are great to watch, little guys are quick and can scramble more, middle to upper weights have speed and strength. They tend to always have great #'s and a lot of wrestling practices cater to their styles. How many 220s and 285's are capable of fully wrestling the way low to middle guys wrestle? It'd be great if all wrestlers were the likes of Parris and those before him of that stature. Some are but to the general sense, they tend to be slower and more about strength. Yea, it might be slower paced, but their are still challenges as a coach we have to adapt to that style. Mental game on heavyweights is tough since the margin of error is a lot lower, as most want to be defensive and wait for the other to make the first move. If you can mentally develop a HWT to get going on leg attacks(even if it's only one type) vs upper body, it's tough to stop them. Someone start a big man academy for our upper weights to get some love.
  2. I understand the concerns with these new uniforms, but do your guys practice in singlets or all compression gear everyday? If not, these aren't an issue as a lot of our guys still practice in t-shirt, shorts, and even sweat shirts/pants. Yes the shirts should be form fitting and snug, don't have to be fully compressed, but at least not baggy. The shorts, even right above the knee seems to be long, I think they should make clearer rules on the inseam length set to a certain length so all shorts are same length. This would mean shorts for little guys can be bigger and big guys a little shorter, but I believe a better definition than just above the knees should to be addressed.
  3. Sorry it's not letting me edit my post. It's 20 tickets, not 50.
  4. The only way to get a suite now, is to know a company or person that has already purchased/leased whatever you want to call it for the year. They don't open them to the public anymore. We contacted someone within a company that has rights to one. They said it'd be 3500 for the two days and you get 50 tickets with it. Food is additional cost.
  5. Martinsville
  6. Good dual and good wrestling by both teams. Thanks for broadcasting fellas.
  7. I didn't see either wrestle establish control. No takedown.

  13. This is what our middle school program has done. 70 by 5's up to 100, then use the high school weights with a couple extra weights between 195 and 285.
  14. Franklin Central use to go to that torunament too. Made thanksgiving dinners awful for us.
  15. Perry Meridian
  16. You'd think after saying Bye so many times they wouldn't come back either.
  17. Going to be some big shoes to fill there. Enjoy the final season and then enjoy all the free time you'll have.
  18. Whiteland will be kicking off our varsity season hosting a tough Perry Meridian team on Wednesday night. Wrestling starts at 6pm and will be in the 9 building gym (entrance just north of football field).
  19. Just as your title says, let it roll. Plenty of good matches will happen when everyone kicks off their first tournament. Some good matches will continue throughout the year and best story line of all is who gets hot during the state run and most importantly at state. Ready to get it underway.
  20. Straight from NFHS.org Website Just remember it has to be a school issued uniform, so wrestlers can't wear their own personal items. I'm not sure how many teams will be changing over to the new uniform yet, but I imagine here in a few years that will be what the majority of them are wearing. Our club is giving these as part of registration instead of singlets this year.
  21. Just wondering, since this is fairly new, is this allowed for girls that are not part of the high school wrestling team? We are starting a girls club program and some high school aged girls are interested. They however are not interested in joining the school's team but our club program. Would they be able to participate in this, or is it for high school team wrestlers only? And thank you for putting this together. Girls wrestling is on the rise because people like you, putting in the work to get things done.
