  1. That is great news about an exceptional wrestler and a heck of a warrior. Brandon is a great young man and it will be a joy to see him wrestle for the Black/Old Gold. Congrats to the entire Nelson family - your time, efforts and dedication to Brandon have produced a fine young man. Good luck in this upcoming season. The Mascaro Family
  2. That's awesome. Congrats to Cashe and all the guys (and girls) for their performances at Fargo!
  3. The Intermat College 2009-2010 recruiting class rankings are out. Purdue took the 12th spot and IU 23rd. http://www.intermatwrestle.com/articles/5232 12. Purdue Top 100 Recruits: No. 55 Kendrick Sanders (South Dade, FL), No. 63 Camden Eppert (Anderson Highland, IN), No. 65 Cashe Quiroga (Lawrence North, IN) Other Ranked Recruit: Steve Sandefer (Mishawaka, IN), 16th at 140 Other Notable Recruits: Adam Walls (Beavercreek, OH), Alex White (Mt. Vernon, IN), Brice Grimes (Lawrence North, IN), Kyle Mosier (Yorktown, IN), Will Mascaro (Carmel, IN) Commentary: For Purdue, not exactly perceived as a Big Ten power, this recruiting class could be the start of the paradigm shift that Scott Hinkel is trying to achieve heading into his third year as head coach at his alma mater. The anchor of this class -- Sanders -- is a two-time Junior National Greco-Roman champion. Eppert, a Junior National All-American in freestyle, and Quiroga, a NHSCA Senior Nationals runner-up, are the type of lowerweight wrestlers that will be expected to step in as starters early in their careers. White, Grimes, Mosier, and Mascaro combined for a total of six losses during their senior seasons despite none of them winning state titles. 23. Indiana Top 100 Recruits: No. 46 Ryan LeBlanc (Morrisville Eaton, NY), No. 57 Max Ortega (Rio Rancho, NM) Other Notable Recruits: Justin Brooks (Warsaw, IN), Tanner Kriss (Colby, KS) Commentary: Both of the nationally-ranked recruits -- LeBlanc and Ortega -- earned All-American honors at the NHSCA Senior Nationals. Brooks was a Junior National All-American in freestyle this past summer, while Kriss completed his senior season of high school with a state title.
  4. Congratulations to Bryce and the Grimes family on your selection of a great school and a great program. We wish you the best of luck in both your academic and wrestling efforts. This is another exceptional young man joining a great team that has a lot of potential. We look forward to seeing you wrestle and contribute to a winning team over the next couple of years. The Mascaro Family
  5. Pat Parham, James Frascella, Will Mascaro, Curtis Anderson, Grant Scurria - Carmel
  6. Thank you for the well wishes. I will pass your message on to Jim. He is an exceptional guy and has added a lot to Carmel's program. We have been very fortunate to have picked up several experienced, enthusiastic coaches who are doing some great things with the kids. They have a sophomore (soon to be junior) class that is an amazing group of talented guys that just keeps getting better every day.
  7. Congrats Alex and the White family. Looking forward to watching you wrestle over the next couple of years. The Mascaro Family
  8. Congrats to Will! Being from Missouri, I guess I'm a little biased towards the Tigers, but Purdue is a shorter drive! Have a great season. Westerncat - Columbia is a great college town and the campus was beautiful. Mizzou did a heck of a job of recruiting and has a very impressive program and I am sure Will would have done well there, but we are delighted he is heading to Purdue - an yes the shoter drive is an important factor (at least for my wife and I). Thanks AJ for the well wishes.
  9. Steven and the Sandefer family; That is awesome news. Glad things worked out so quickly. You, Will and the guys should have a blast up there. See you on move in day. The Mascaros
  10. Thanks allyour base. We are confident things will get done!
  11. Thanks for the congrats. Will is planning on studying biochemistry or biology (premed). Purdue is very strong in both. Tough majors to combine with wrestling, but he has a good mind and they have great resources that will be available to him.
  12. We are pleased to announce that Will Mascaro will be wrestling for the Boilermakers next year. After a very long and thorough process, Will narrowed his choices down to 3 schools (Purdue, University of Missouri, and Coe College) and chose Purdue for its academics, wrestling team, great coaching staff and the opportunity to remain in Indiana where he has many friends and family. We are appreciative of all the effort his High School, Team Indiana and Club coaches have put into helping him do what he loves to do throughout his HS career and preparing him for the next level. There are a great group of young men at and heading to West Lafayette who will be working their tails off to make things happen; so the next few years should prove to be very promising for Purdue Wrestling. All the Best! See you all in the stands. Mindy and Guy Mascaro
  13. Robles just beat Sanders (Minn) 19 to 10
