Buds - Most unique menu on Franklin Street - awesome food. Noche - new taco and tequila place, just opened. Smitty's Italian Steakhouse - Great Pastas, Steaks, and Sammiches. Other Great Places Downtown but may be packed due to proximity to Ford Center. Samuels Bru Burger Comfort
  3. The Third Annual Adidas Midwest Scholastic Duals will take place June 8-9 in Evansville. The event is sponsored by Adidas Wrestling and the competition level at this event is unmatched in Indiana in an offseason event. Come join programs such as Indianapolis Cathedral, Crown Point, Mater Dei, Avon, Bloomington South, Columbus East, Rochester, Tell City, and Owen Valley, just to name a few. This is a Dual meet event for High School teams, NOT ALL STAR TEAMS. The event is based on Disney Duals roster rules so it serves as a great warm up for Community Teams going to Disney. Each team will get 8-10 duals over two days. Information is attached. 2024 ADIDAS MIDWEST SCHOLASTIC DUALS.pdf

  5. I would like to congratulate Larry Mattingly on his retirement and on an awesome career. I never met another coach or athlete who didn't think he was a great person. If you ever met him him you know he is the best joke teller on the planet. He is the definition of a great mentor to Memorial HS Wrestlers and fellow coaches for 36 years! I feel fortunate to say I was his assistant for most of them. Congrats Larry! 11. There is a new summer tournament on the block and it's the real deal!! The event information is listed in the Tournament Information Forum, where it should be. I am hoping Joe leaves this post here as it becomes a discussion. After many years of consideration and thought of trying to make this event happen, We finally jumped in feet first and made it a reality. We contacted Adidas Wrestling and they jumped at the chance to be the title sponsor of this new event. I am wondering what everyone's thoughts are. This event strives to much more than a typical high school hosted Summer Duals. (You know, the summer events that unorganized teams verbally commit to and then cancel 2 weeks prior to the event, leaving the host school with the mess filling the spot and everything that goes with it.) We want an event that is full every single year, with great programs, who show up ready to compete at a high level. We want a waiting list of hammer teams. We want an event, that quite honestly, is not for everybody. This event has been "copied" after the Disney Duals. We want it to be a smaller version of the Disney Duals, right here in Indiana. We had a "soft opening" so that we could reach out to specific programs and get a wide representation state wide. We also reached out to other states hoping to get a much different flavor, but have had little or no luck. We have had some outstanding programs commit for this year. (see the list below) and we still have a few openings. This should be a great event. So tell us, what can we do to make it grow from 16 to 36 teams from all over the Midwest in the next 2-3 years? What are the little things that make an event like this something everyone wants to do? What separates an event like this from the others? Talk to us. Help us make this something Indiana can be proud of. Here are the teams entered so far- Team List (verbally committed 100%) 1. Cathedral 2. Lafayette Jefferson 3. Evansville Memorial 4. Evansville North 5. Mt. Vernon (Posey) 6. Westfield 7. Avon 8. Mater Dei 9. Edgewood 10. Carmel 11. Columbus East 12. ?? 13. ?? 14. ?? 15. ?? 16. ?? Jeff Schaefer Evansville Memorial HS E.I. 14. A quick update... Brute and Cliff Keen, Both are true WRESTLING SUPPLIERS and have been for many years. Both have supplied NCAA and HS teams across the country as long as any of us can remember. Both are producing singlets is the Good Ol USA. Cliff Keen in Michigan and Brute in Pennsylvania. At this time both are running 3 weeks MAX on uniform production. If your up for new uni's this season and want to get an American made product, at a great price, with a great lead time....Give E.I. Sports and Apparel a call. 812-474-1836 or eisports@sigecom.net.
  15. I wanted to reach out to all coaches in the state that I have coached in for 30 years, and supplied uniforms for for 20 years. This is not a topic to solicit business. This is simply advice from somebody who knows the business and wants all wrestling programs to have good experiences. If you need (or plan to buy) uniforms or any type of apparel this season, (whether you are purchasing from me or not), Please take my advice and be sure to ask where the items are being manufactured. Whether your vendor tells you the truth or not, the fact is that the "supply chain" is broken world wide due to COVID. We are seeing weird things happen that the manufacturers do not have control over. These issues WILL effect deliveries. Some cannot get raw material (the cloth used to produce your garments), some factories are running at less than 50% capacity due to not being able to bring back enough employees, and we have even seen huge disruption in the ability for Fed Ex, UPS, and DHL type companies to even get the product out of those countries and into the states. If you order from some companies you are taking a huge risk. You may or may not ever see your gear. It's a cruel hard fact in this crazy world right now. Be Careful coaches and now more than ever, ORDER EARLY and BUY AMERICAN!!
  16. Coach Duncan- email me at eisports@sigecom.net and I can help you size your warmups. Been doing it for 20 years. I know the cliff keen line very well. Glad to help.
  17. I have been asked recently by coaches, and have had some discussion with some officials about the new rule that went into effect this year about Headgear only having 1 manufacturers logo on them. The IHSAA recently told the officials that the new rule was going into effect despite the fact that Cliff Keen, Adidas, and Asics all had 2 logos on their headgear and that schools would have to mark logos out with a sharpie or cover them up with tape etc etc. Today I got word, through Adidas Wrestling, and saw a copy of a letter from the NFHS to Adidas Wrestling, that states the new rule would NOT be going into effect this season because the manufacturers of headgear have not had time to comply with the new rules. The information has been sent to the IHSAA. I assume they may notify everyone officially on this. If anybody has any questions, feel free to email me at eisports@sigecom.net Jeff Schaefer E.I.
