Summary of last night's results for our Indiana interests:

    Baumann, Bates, Willham are out.

C-Rooks picks up two wins and makes it to the R24 in the consis. Lemley, G-Rooks, Lee all lose and fall into that round as well. Those 4 guys each need 3 wins to be AAs.

Mendez, Allred, Davison are in the quarterfinals.
Mendez beat Hardy, 11-3, during the year and is clearly favored. Allred will be a significant underdog versus #2 Hidlay, who's only gone the distance in 5 of his 26 wins during his undefeated season. Davison lost 5-3 to #2 Bastida this year, and should have a shot at the upset.

IU has 5 of 6 still alive in the consolations.

Purdue, as noted above, has Ramos in the quarters and Clark in the consis.

Man just read up on this. Crazy. That dude was always a quality guy when I used to run into him. A loss for the Indianapolis area wrestling community for sure  Condolences to the family.

Good for him to find an avenue to the next level despite being behind a starter.  CG may roll deep but this is a major accomplishment for the program none the less.

Two from the finals to win a state title.
Paul Petrov - Has the confidence to cut Brenden Campbell with a little under a minute left to give Campbell the lead then finding a way to secure the takedown to win.  Not the cleanest takedown but I was very impressed with the confidence to hand Campbell the lead and know you would find a TD to win in.

Chad Ruggeri - Double Overs to throw and pin Dexter Larimore one of Indiana’s best HWTs of all time.  Pretty much everyone had Larimore winning it but Ruggeri just went right in on him and chose to take the title for his own rather than be hesitant at such a big moment.

I may have seen better takedown moves but not too many in such a clutch situation with a state title on the line.

The former Yorktown standout looking to take another national title.  She worked her way back from a prior season ending injury and has transferred to North Central.  Hopefully she can get it done one more time in her final season of eligibility.

Boyd finishes 3rd.  Still a great career for this young lady and great to see her come back from injury to make on more run at a title.  Hope we see her at the World/Olympic Trials in the next several years.

Been saying for a while the top of this sport, and most sports, is becoming a little less accessible to blue-collar wrestlers/families than it used to be.  Affordable access to wrestling opportunities and just simply the ability to travel (since many have parents who work a lot) is becoming hard for some families to overcome.  Especially when certain events and academies are not within a short drive from the location you live in.

It's awesome that some kids have the opportunity to make a major jump in their skill level.  But a decent percentage of wrestlers are limited in what their family can do and really have to search for what rare options may present themselves if they want to make decent gains in their ability.  Sometimes coaches have to be creative as well in order to help those kids get some type of opportunity.  When the demographic of a large percentage of your team is within that socio-economic situation, obviously finding enough avenues to help them becomes a little more daunting. For several coaches, there isn't much of an off season anymore to start with, and then add on to that the legwork you'll also be putting into finding ways to help those types of wrestlers out so they can "shrink the talent gap."

Thank goodness for Bourbon, it washes way the intense feeling of I could be driving a Porsche and living in some gated community in Miami if I wasn't spending hand over foot.

Also thank goodness for Dave Ramsey, who I also curse b/c when spending money sometimes ignorance is bliss.

MattM got a reaction from UncleJimmy in Jared Brooks ONE title …agree or no?
If those are the defined rules then you have the be cautious with them.  That being said Brooks seems to have the worst luck when it comes to his few MMA losses.  First a controversial split decision in a fight where he had control of a lot of the action against a guy that would go on to be a 2x UFC champion.  Then he knocks himself out while he was slamming his opponent in what was a very good performance before that moment.  Get released by the UFC following a win as they were attempting to cut ties with most of the light weight division.  And now this.  The dude is still finding tons of success but he's having to get through some hard luck to do it.  Definitely deserves a rematch.

I have been told that top 5 make it in. If that is the case, I have finished 5th. With that said, I would like to decline my 1st ballot honors to ensure that the best story teller ever, and friend to many, Tom Clark @grecoref ,be honored as a 1st ballot entrant to the IndianaMat Poster HOF.

We miss your amazing stories friend!!!!!

My time will come and until then my County brother @TeamGarcia will hold the HOF down for our community!!!
