  1. The talent of this class is a big reason why Indiana finally got the invite to have a state team participate in the Dapper Dan event (Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic).
  2. Congrats to Jacob on winning the Mental Attitude Award, as well. A testament to the type of kid the Wisconsin Badgers are getting next season.
  3. May as well get bigger. 220 isn't a college weight so if he's sticking with wrestling he can keep bulking up.
  4. I wasn't sure on the last Red Nearfall. Maybe it's me just wanting to see some OT action from such a great matchup. At least the match was worth the hype rather than a low scoring nothing happening match. Great job by both. Red will go down as a all time great. Lee will also be respected as one of the best. We will see in the next few years what college brings for them both.
  5. I don't know how Mappes does it, but he just finding a way to win matches.
  6. I think the connection would be more an advantage in terms of: Likely gaining entrance into the sport early. Having access to more knowledge/technique. Access to someone that can relate to the mental side of the sport along with other outside factors involved in the sport. It doesn't guarantee success, but those factors that are result of being in a wrestling family helps improve your chances. Seems like both these guys at least had some access to those factors which has aided in their development.
  7. Big comback effort by Drew in the 3rd. I, like many others, didn't think he's find the points to get back in it.
  8. . If I recall correctly he comes from an amateur boxing background, soy hat experience likely helps him gain perspective of what's involved to be successful in combat style sports like wrestling and MMA.
  9. FYI, You can change your thread title too when you hit the edit button.
  10. . Open a new browser, re-enter Trackwrestling, and open a new video feed for anothe mat. Change the video size and/or hit control " - " until you get the video to the size of 1/4 of your screen. Then shrink your browser size down and place the video in a corner of the screen. Repeat the process a few more time. You can split your 50" into four different screens then "full screen" the match that is getting interesting. Get a wireless mouse and you can do all this from your couch. And I'll be happy to accept bottle of Lagavulin for the tech support.
  11. http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2016/02/19/doyel-wrestling-finals-none-these-guys-lost/80619488/ Much respect to Doyel for looking deep enough to see the heart these boys have.
  12. Previously they have had announcers for each match. So I would assume the plan is to have the sound on once the action starts.
  13. Eppert vs. Wright match got a lot of attention due to the rivalry. They faced each other like 12 times with Wright having won slightly more of the match-ups. Three of those matches were under the lights for the state title. Eppert won the first title, Wright won the next year. Going into the last match there was a lot of hype of who would get the last word since Eppert was graduating. Eppert won in a close 3-2 decision on an escape, to claim the state title. Wright goes on the next year to win his second state title.
  14. And a deep wallet. I'd say Friday off work and go there for lunch when you can fill up for about half the normal price.
  15. http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2016/02/17/doyel-139-0-chad-reds-flawless-prep-career-almost-complete/80374660/
  16. I'm not parting with my copy of either book, but good luck on your search. Both books are great for reference. I also really appreciated the state finals narratives that Ready, Wrestle provided. If you don't have it already I would also recommend "We Are Mater Dei" for additional historic wrestling insight.
  17. The pot of coffee straight from a can wasn't enough to fill you up?
  18. While I agree the intros are great, I'm assuming the decision to cut that out was due to the tv time frame they are attempting to fit into.
  19. No, one free admission pass upon completion of the rules survey?
  20. Is Sage the last true state caliber remanent of the Muncie Southside high school program? For that reason along I hope he overcomes his injury and has a great showing at state. The Rebels deserve on more good ride for old time sake, even if it's under the banner of a different school.
  21. Is there actually specific order set by the rules for swimming and track events or is it just a traditional arrangement of events that still carries over?
  22. Well here is the video from the match. If you don't want to watch the whole thing the big moment occurs at 0:44 into the video. .http://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ.
  23. Well it wouldn't be the first time the IHSAA interpreted the rules in their own special way.
