  2. IHSWCA Members: Congrats on Sectionals! Winning it or not, you have made it through a season and that is something to pat all coaches on the back for! Below are some reminders from our NWCA rep Dave Cloud. Also, remember: -Regionals will be voting this weekend on their regional COY (coach of the year) members please participate; any member may submit an assistant coach of they year as well. The state will select one from regional entries. -Academic all-state was due this past weekend, if you missed the deadline, email JD Minch directly -Hall of Fame tickets are due TOMORROW at the latest - see previous emails for that Good luck at Regionals coaches and kids!!! Take a look at some of our post season awards and challenges below . Danny Struck - IHSWCA President USMC/NWCA Character and Leadership All-American Award: If you have Junior or Senior letter winners on your team who display outstanding leadership and character, please nominate them for the USMC/NWCA Character and Leadership All-American Award. You can find the form on the NWCAonline.com site in the members portal. It is the first item after Home on the left menu. There is not a hard deadline but it would be best if you could have it done before state finals weekend. The USMC/NWCA Academic All-American Award program will be coming this Spring. I will post information on that when it opens. Dave Cloud NWCA State Rep IHSWCA ACADEMIC CHALLENGE ENTRANTS: Please list EACH of your wrestlers' GPAs to the thousandth place, then add those individual GPAs together and divide by the number of sectional competitors for your team to calculate your team GPA to the thousandth place (round back from the ten thousandth place). More information: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NILSB4rmW1piacyuqm0EWo4gEhEvMaCu/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=100053127643412207213&rtpof=true&sd=true Thanks, Dave Cloud NWCA State Rep
  3. 2022 IHSWCA Academic Challenge - click link for full information The IHSWCA is proud to sponsor the second annual IHSWCA Academic Challenge. The purpose of the Challenge is to highlight the student aspect of our student-athletes. All 32 IHSAA Sectional champion teams are eligible to participate. You will need to have the most recent semester GPA (converted to a 4-point scale) of your IHSAA Sectional participants. Individual GPAs will be averaged together to compute your team GPA. The head coach of the team MUST be a current member of the IHSWCA for his team to be eligible for the Challenge (contact JD Minch—jsaminch123@sbcglobal.net). A team must have at least 12 wrestlers participating (not just entered) on Sectional day to be eligible to enter the Challenge. It is recommended you get your wrestlers’ GPAs from your school guidance office before the Sectional if you expect to contend for a team title and, if your school is using a 12-point scale, have them converted to a 4-point scale by your guidance office. You need to scan and email the entry form (third page of this document) by February 8. I will contact the schools with the top three averages to have them send official school transcripts for verification. Only the team champion from each Sectional may enter. Do not send entries before Sectionals!
  4. Dear IHSWCA Association members, and those that need to sign up: So much going on, I hope I cover it all here! This is my second run as IHSWCA President and so much has grown! During my first time around (as VP) we started the duals and what an event it has turned out to be! You (all that participate and host), have turned this into something bigger and more prestigious than we could have ever dreamed of when we started it! Thank you Greg Ratliff, even through your retirement as President, for continuing to work on this awesome event. Thank you to our IHSWCA State Duals hosts. Without our hosts - Martinsville, Franklin, and Brownsburg, we couldn't have done it. Congrats to all those who participated! Gary Myers and team with the IHSGWA, wow!!!! I got to go to the southern regional at Edgewood and then to state finals. The ticket round at Edgewood, for myself and for those girls, rivaled what we see in the ticket round at semi state. Girls and coaches cried together. Those that advanced had tears of joy. Those that lost in the ticket round knew their season had ended. Either way, it was an amazing experience to witness and verified that our sport is truly for all people. The IHSWCA will have their presentation to sanction Women's Wrestling to the IHSAA on March 1. Supporters, please keep your fingers crossed. Thank you Edgewood, Kokomo and Maconaquah for hosting these events. We all became coaches to help kids be the best version of themselves that they can become. We "love" wrestling but what we really love is working with kids through wrestling. Our sport has amazing teaching power. Please keep in mind a few things as the "stakes get higher". What an awesome thing it would be to have two opposing coaches coming together for the idea of "what can we do today to help each others kids." With the passion we already possess, our growth could multiply! Good luck in the post season!! Thank you all for what you do for kids (and wrestling). Danny Struck IHSWCA President Jeffersonville HS, Indiana PS: quick thank you to all those on committees, our representatives, and Jake, Greg, Sam, Jason, JD, for always being there for a call on all these items!
