  1. So to your point an extra 10 minutes is too far to travel? On a school night too?
  2. Tell City to North Posey 76.4 miles Tell City to Mt. Vernon 70.9 miles

  4. 106- Anakin CA dominates here 113- Luigs MD, Willis CE could see a challenge for 2nd 120- Egli MD Matherly NO...if Ferg is really done. Ferg pins out if he is here 126- Johnson MD Burke NO 132- Lee...................................................then the field. Brown CA or Elpers NO 138- Lee MD Dixon RE Ramsey CA Wargel ME (2-4...roll the dice on these guys...could end up any which way) 145- Jourdan MD Schnell CA .... McCormick CE (top two are head & shoulders above the rest) 152- Kemper CE Williams ME (I like Williams as a dark horse) Lehman MD (odd man out in MD line up...kind of under-sized for the weight) 160- Lockyear CA Huelsing ME Forzley MD...could be a doozy final here 170- ???????? 182- Bassmeier MD (had a horrible regional last year, I say he fixes it here) Dowell CA 195- Lamar CA? ME had Gahagen here earlier...if he goes 195 he could be a dark horse, Anslinger MD 220- Kyles HA if he drops?? This weight class is wide open. Auten RE is decent here 285- Kyles if he stays. Butler MD if Kyles drops, Page ME MD runs away with team title Castle 2nd Memorial Reitz North Central Harrison Bosse
  5. I saw Memorial's results on the dual results page...anybody else?? Individual results?? Heard Dixon (RE) beat Wargel (ME) in a slugfest... Any other notables?
  6. Stalling technique? Like when he scored 11 points in his Ticket round match vs a previous year's state qualifier? What techniques are these??
  7. In the last seven years(same years Hinkle was at Purdue, Indiana has had seven All-Americans. That is one per year. While this isn't great, it is better than Purdue has done. But Hinkle did have a 4-2 DUAL record vs. IU. He made decent dual meet teams...just not top end individuals.
  8. False. Kids still quit over that. There names just don't end up on a list. Interesting to see Nick Lee's name so far down on the list when he is light years ahead of the competition now. Makes a great case (for coaches) that you never know who will make it and who it will "click" with.
  9. Just would like to give kudos to this guy doing the rankings. To only have 8 guys eliminated in all of the weight class come semi state time means he has his rankings pretty dead on. Thanks for all of your hard work. I for one think you did a helluva job!
  10. Just looking for clarification here. NOT complaining...trying to learn the system... How can a team win all heir first round matches and gain no points? Also, Princeton for example will LOSE points if their wrestler wins round one. How do you LOSE points for winning? Why is there such a huge difference in the amount if possible points for the top 3 teams? Memorial 40, Mt. Vernon 12, Yorktown 131. What gives?
  11. Don't you think it was the coach's decision to bump him to 113? Also, Central had the opportunity to bump Kemper to face Rickenbaugh (HH) at Turkey Classic...does that mean you have no cajones Coach Williams? I don't hear anyone bashing Central for not moving him up.
  12. I advocate win like you've been there before. But heck..it's state...I wanna see a back flip. *Before they dropped wrestling* Are we telling Americans not to run around with the American flag drapped over their shoulders? They've worked hard, they've earned it, let'em celebrate!!
  13. When will we know if a school moves up or down? Fall/August? Thanks for all the hard work.
  14. Good call on the Jumbo Tron! Add that to the list. Great addition!
  15. 1.) No pre-state shaved ice threads?? 2.) 4 over 1s. How many happened? I know I called one (Wedding @132). Glad to see him place again. It seemed he had a looong year/road. 3.) HEADLOCKS, HEADLOCKAS, and more HEADLOCKS!!! I was shocked at the amount of these I saw. It was an epidemic! I must say it was quite surprising to see such an old fashion move be so deadly. It has not been like this in the past. 4.) Finals celebrations. From Sandefer & Humphrey break dancing to Chaflant peeling his straps and flexing...There wasn't much celebrating, but who's was the best? 5.) Seating arrangements. I for one had to sit in a different place every session. Is anyone else annoyed by "squatters"? I wasn't even in the first or second tiers. Leave my nosebleed seats alone man!!! ;D 6.) I loved the competition and parody in the finals. Malloy was said to be a "lock" and his match went to the wire as did Micic's. The Hughes vs. Wilson match was a surprise (to most). And kudos on the best finals match goes to Welch vs Crume. Too bad someone had to lose that one.
  16. 106 Stevan Micic vs Chad Red *Micic last year would major Red. 113 Jarred Brooks vs Steven Micic *Brooks by major, Micic did not look as impressive this year 120 Paul Petrov vs Deondre Wilson *Petrov by dec, could get a major 126 Kyle Ayersman vs Nick Crume *Great match! Ayersman by dec 132 Jared McKinley vs Cody Lecount *McKinley wins with a late headlock 138 Devon Jackson vs Tommy Forte *Forte in OT 145 Jason Tsirtsis vs Neal Molloy *Tsirtsis by major, but not before some sick flurries from neutral 152 Isaiah Bradley vs Josh Farrell *Bradley by dec 160 Brian Harvey vs Riley McClurg *McClurg by dec 170 Sean Mappes vs Bobby Steveson *Stevenson with a late takedown 182 Tanner Lynde vs Matt Hurford *Lynde by dec 195 Mitch Sliga vs Mitch Sliga *Sliga in 2013 in OT 220 Tyler Kral vs Gelen Robinson *Kral by dec 285 Abraham Hall vs Donte Winfield *Winfield in 2OT
  17. Eliminating the oldest sport in world history......the sport that's OLDER than YOUR games....good call IOC...*FLIPPING* idiots
  18. He was behind 2x SQ Damon Kuhn and SQ Josh Davis. I'd say his room/practice partners are status enough to how tough the guy is. With that being said, Smith wrestled Chad Red to a 2 pt match at MD. He is big match proven. BOTH of the kids are worhty. Fasten your seatbelts wrestling fans...shoud be a doozy!!
  19. Maroon?! Thought MD was CRIMSON and gold? ;D
  20. Best 1st Rd. matches Saturday....In my humble opinion..... 8) 106 Vaal HH vs Dillbeck GS- GS was your PAC champ but HH always prepares their kids well come tourney time 113 Keller MV vs Lehman MD- This might be the only "match" in this bracket. Pretty one sided weight class 120 Meyers HH vs Greenwell GS- GS picked of HH at PAC. Looks like this could be the rubber match. 126 Todrank RE vs Braye NO- Again, a one-sided weight class. Braye, a SR, has one shot vs a tough opponent 132 Johns RE vs Kargas PR- Do not leave your seat for this one! PR is slick on his feet but RE is FUNKY! Great match-up 138 Scheessele ME vs Schroeder MD- Senior vs Senior here. Scheess is one tough kid, but Schroed is an SQ. 145 Petrig ME vs Elderkin NP- Take your pick at this weight class. Wide open (behind Kelley) 2-4 should be interesting 152 Witte CA vs Wallis PR- Tough draw for these two, prolly a 1 pt match. Senior vs Senior again 160 Merriweather BO vs Martin NP- Coach Duck & BO came ready last week. Don't sleep on the Bulldogs 170 Watson HA vs Martin NP- These Martin bros are tough/ grind it out guys. 182 Burden SS vs Wheeler VL- Tough 2 loss Burden vs Big 8 champ Wheeler. Senior vs Senior...again 195 Smith BO vs Jefferson VL- Jefferson picked off Smith at the Big 8. Rematch...!! 220 Hammonds RE vs Greenwell NO- Went with Senior vs Senior here 285 Osborne TC vs Miller PC- Two solid PAC heavys. Again, not calling upsets and not devaluing anyone. Anything can happen, good luck to all participants
  21. You can tell the coaches that understand the system AND what kind of strength of schedule / sectional toughness they have vs. those that don't.
  22. AGREE! Great post, thanks for this.
  23. I like the research and insight navy80. Good stuff Anybody else...?
  24. Just a heads up... I noticed several duplicat last names at different weight classes. (Ex. there are 2 Phillips at 112, 2 Johnsons at 152) So be careful when doing your picks folks Also, Looking at the brackets I've picked matches that I think will be the barn-burners, dooozies, etc (insert your own cliche). The matches I will be keeping a CLOSE eye on will be... 103- Krumlauf vs Witten (two 9 lossers goin at it) 112- Price vs Schroeder (two 2 loss seniors) 119- McHugh vs Wedding (two sophomores here) 125- Griesemer vs Crume (went into OT last time) 130- Hartman vs House (I know, call me crazy but I think this could be a good one) 135- Fuqua vs Bradley 140- Boyd vs Van Horn (could have been a Semi-state matchup if ....nevermind, next!) 145- James vs Whetstine (Whetstine had to default during semis, could present James some problems) 152- Flamme vs Schwartz 160- Judkins vs Rimmel (two 3 loss seniors dukin' it out) 171- Hostetler vs Parrish (4 & 5 loss seniors here) 189- Haskett vs Goldman (both have "D-1" talent coaching them) 215- Gallegos vs Pratt ( 4 & 5 loss combatants, but JEFF upper-weights always make things interesting with their ability to throw) 285- Ginter vs Melby (Ginter stayed alive in a tough HWT bracket @ Semi-state but Melby is a big obstacle) Just my two cents, not predicting winners...just good matchups
