  1. Floyd Central Either Cooper Samuels or J Conway Cooper 4x Medalist, 3x Finalist and 2x Champ (Career Wins) J Conway 4x Qualifier, 3x Medalist, 2x Champ, Fargo All-American (Takedown Record, and only wrestler with 2 undefeated seasons) Nate Peterson was a 3x Qualifier, 2x Placer, State Champ (Only NCAA Qualifier) Codei Khawaja was a 3x Fargo All-American and zero time Indiana state placer because of some poor luckl
  2. The last time a popular website involving Indiana wrestling crashed @Y2CJ41 stepped in! Ticketmaster better watch out!!!
  3. Yes it is a long drive both this weekend and next but I can't deny the success our team has had, as a team and individuals since moving to a different sectional and regional.
  4. @Y2CJ41 well that wasn't very nice! I'm at least above average at jumping rope! In all seriousness I think the logical thing is to expand it to 12 teams. The 3a has proven to be the most unpredictable by the points with late additions such as ourselves and Columbus East having a lot of success.
  5. Ronnie is a Hall of Fame personality FOR SURE! I really miss some of those Ronnie stories!
  6. I'd like to add that I believe the ISWA has finally figured out the right way to run the girls tournament! They have tried many different things but I think until it is big enough to be it's own separate event that running age groups at the same times and giving them their own mats was by far the best experience I've had with my daughter the past 6 years. Middle School State needs to figure it out because 100+ girls on one mat led to 2 matches in 10 hours!
  7. Codei was battling illness from Sectionals on that he could never fully kick. Then in the closing seconds of Semi-State 3rd/4th match he rolled his ankle pretty severely. Codei was not able to practice hard for the last month of the season. In all honestly it took an enormous amount of will power and courage to even step out on the mat at the State Finals. I am not taking anything away from JJ Braun as he came out and did what he needed to do to win. With all of the great wrestlers our program has had Codei is probably on our Mount Rushmore without ever placing at state. He's a 3x Fargo All-American. I honestly don't think he is close to done and we will be hearing his name for some time!
  8. Floyd Central- Teacher Providence- Lay Charlestown- Teacher Silver Creek- Teacher in a different Corporation Corydon- Lay
  9. The Girls Basketball State Finals is typically the weekend after us so postponing a week doesn't really help unless you postpone them as well.
  10. Dealing with a hotel we've been using a few years they mentioned doing a 2 year contract next year, but later stated that they can't do that because the NBA All-Star Game is being hosted in Indianapolis 2024. I thought this couldn't be right but the date for IHSAA State is Feb 16-17 and looking at the NBA website they have All-Star Weekend listed as Feb 16-18. Even if it is some how figured out how to host both events by holding other events at Butler, hotel prices will probably be astronomically high all around Indy. The hotel we deal with already said they are contracted for meeting space and guest rooms that weekend.
  11. Until the elevator broke the only stair access set off an alarm and if you took stairs down you couldn't enter the lobby and it took you directly outside.
  12. The coaching passes were limited last year because Bankers had restrictions on the number of people on the floor at any given time. That does not seem to be the reasoning this year. They moved to wristbands a few years back but It was still a minimum of 3 passes. 2 coaches + assistant/manager. Even for a team with 1 wrestler that 3rd pass is often very important. It might go to an assistant coach that works one on one with the guy, or it allows you to bring that partner that has worked with his friend all year to experience state and warm him up. I'll also say that I am not in favor of the 2 sessions if it's is for the purpose of splitting weight classes.
  13. If a wrestlers misses weight a new wrestler only moves in if the alternate is present. If not it turns into a forfeit. At the coaches meeting they said our wrestler missed weight but that was not the case. I sent the email late Friday. It was a tough call for our wrestler to not wrestle at Semi-State, we literally did everything possible to get him ready but unfortunately it did not happen. I knew the implications it would have on the bracket, and sending that text message to Owen Valley honestly hurt me. I also agree that it is a simple fix by allowing the wrestler/coach decide if they would like to move in the bracket.
  14. Doesn't track have a "standard" for most events. Which allows kids in a loaded Regional at least a chance to move on?
  15. Since Cooper Samuels became my head assistant 7 years ago we've placed 8 with 2 state Champs. He's an amazing technician and a constant student of the sport. Also Brian Foxworthy, who still helps me, was the man behind all of the medals and finals appearances during our run in the 2000s. He's forgot more wrestling than I've ever known. Momir Petkovic doesn't sit in the corner but having him in the room and listening to his approach about wrestling and the journey has been very special for our program.
