Absolutely no way Valenciano loses this weight class(195) He is head and shoulders above anyone else in the weight class. Everthing else looks pretty good. Jasper wins the overall title with Southridge a distant second. Also, the fact these kids have to go to Bloomington this year is huge. In my opinion, this will cut down dramatically the number of Southridge Sectional wrestlers advancing to Semi State. Hopefully I am wrong!

Most of the weight classes will be highly competitive with few wrestlers having an easy time to the championship. Kendle from Pike Central(119), Byrer from North Knox, since he bumped down and away from Lunsford and Chambers(125) and Jones from Southridge(135) should be heavy favorites. All the other weight classes are up for grabs with at least two sometimes three strong wrestlers in each class. Team wise, Jasper should be very tough to beat.

Jasper should be the slight favorite, but Mt. Vernon and Princeton are very close behind! Boonville would have challenged also but lost a couple of starters. Ind. Senior Jasper wrestler Zach "Z-Man" Beckman finished his high school wrestling career undefeated tonight. Zach is a Downs Syndrome Special Needs student at Jasper High School and became a You Tube sensation earlier in the year for scoring a 59 yard touchdown run against Mt. Vernon. He topped his high school wrestling career off tonight in style with a special exhibition match against another Jasper Senior, Kaleb Chambers, before the big rivalry meet with Southridge high school. Zach exploded off the initial whistle and stunned Kaleb with an overpowering headlock that took Chambers to his back. Try as he might, Chambers could not stop the inevitable. Zach pinned him ! Great Job Zach, you will be missed in the line-up next year!

Brendon Kelly has wrestled 130 all year for Ev. Central. His only two losses of the year are Schnarr from Reitz and Chambers from Jasper(Which he later beat). Quality wrestler, with wins over Brown of Castle and Chambers of Jasper. Brendon is the real deal, freshman or not.
