  13. We had a great time with this group of young men. After going 5-0 and winning our pool, we ran into 3 outstanding academy all-star teams in the gold pool and went 0-3 to finish 4th overall. Our guys really battled hard and carried themselves well. Thomas Penola (Zionsville) went undefeated for Hoosier Hustle and wrestled out of his mind! He was in great shape and pushed his opponents past their breaking point in about every match. Several of our wrestlers rallied in individual matches to tie it up and then won in OT. Each of the wrestlers on this squad undoubtedly had a weak spot or two exposed that they need to come home and work on, but that is why we go to events of this nature. Many of the PA wrestlers really, really ride and turn efficiently on top. Overall, a great experience with a great group of young men who each represented their school and community with great effort and sportsmanship. Thank you to the IN and IL coaches who supported this project by allowing their wrestler to compete with Hoosier Hustle. A special congratulations to Ty Mills and Thomas Penola who have committed to wrestle for Duke and Purdue respectively. Two fine student-athletes! As I told the wrestlers this past weekend, the upcoming high school season will be my 30th, and final, season as a head high school wrestling coach. This past weekend was my last preseason event, and I, and our coaches, had a blast with this group of guys. These guys were a class act all the way around! Best of luck to all of the Hoosier Hustle squad members this upcoming high school season. Coach McCormick

  15. Fall Coaching Clinic- Dustin Meyers/ Kevin Ward

Current Indiana wrestlers at Army West Point: Ben Harvey - Cathedral (Sophomore/USMAPS) Cael McCormick - Yorktown (Sophomore) Gunnar Larson - Avon (Freshman) Colton Cummings - Lowell (USMAPS) Brad Laughlin - Yorktown (USMAPS) Coach Braden Atwood - Delphi (Volunteer Assistant Coach)
  16. Fall Coaching Clinic- Dustin Meyers/ Kevin Ward

Coach Ward, and his staff, are doing great things at Army WP. In addition to putting together a top 25 recruiting class for this season, they are "teaching coaches" in the room. Coach Ward and his staff are on the mat working with their athletes in the room every day on cutting edge technique and skills. As mentioned in his bio., Coach Ward wrestled at Oklahoma State under legendary coach John Smith. Coach Ward's experience at OSU is evident in his work ethic and mentoring of his athletes. Throw on top of all of that the fact that there are 5 Indiana boys currently on the WP/USMAPS roster along with a new coach who also wrestled in Indiana (Atwood); with another IN senior commit for next season already. Coach Ward has a lot of respect for IN wrestling and has put his money where his mouth is in recruiting in our state. I am looking forward to Coach Ward's sessions at our coaches' clinic this month. Should be some good stuff. Thank you to the IHSWCA for bringing in a head coach from a U.S. Service Academy. Coach McCormick
  17. We are in need of a 145 (+3) or a 152 (+3) for a duals event on Oct. 7-8 in PA. Our 152 can cut to 148 if necessary, so we have the flexibility of putting a call out for a talented 148 OR 155 to fill this open spot.Team dynamics: 2 state champs, a state runner-up, 5 state placers/qualifiers, and 4 semi-state qualifiers. If interested, please email me with your name and high school state accomplishments over past 1-2 years. We will wrestle 8 duals on Oct. 7-8 at the York Expo Center in York, PA.We will see many good east coast teams at this tournament. We finished 2nd at this event last year.If you have any questions, please contact me at tmccormick@yorktown.k12.in.us and/or 765-282-9136 (cell).Thank you,Coach McCormick
  18. Thank You Louis Rosbottom

It is my understanding that Keith Davison is the new ISWA chairman. I first want to congratulate Keith on his new position and wish him the best of luck. I would like to thank Louis Rosbottom for everything he, and his wife Sharon, have done for the ISWA over the years. Their dedication and devotion to Indiana wrestling is immeasurable. I had the privilege of sitting on the ISWA board of directors for roughly 8 years (a number of years ago) with the Rosbottom's. When you start looking at the ISWA's annual budget meeting, services, programs, the ISWA office, trips, coaches, tournament management, etc, etc, etc, the ISWA is a HUGE undertaking and the Rosbottom's have been a positive influence and driving force behind all of these operations for many years. Thank you Louis for your servant leadership style of management. Indiana wrestling wouldn't be where it is today without everything you and Sharon have done with the ISWA. Regards, Trent McCormick Yorktown Wrestling
  19. Hoosier Hustle - 220 for PA Trip

Still looking for a 220 for this Oct. 7-8 event. If interested, contact Coach McCormick at tmccormick@yorktown.k12.in.us
  20. Hoosier Hustle - 220 for PA Trip

The Hoosier Hustle travel team is coming together nicely for the upcoming trip to York, PA. We have numerous state placers, qualifiers, and semi-state qualifiers on the squad. This can be a tough time of the year to find "bigger" guys due to the high school football season. In shoring up the team, we are looking for a 220 (+ 3 lbs) who would like to make the trip to PA with us. Anyone with regional (or better) experience would be considered. A football player could indeed still participate in this particular event if he wanted to. If interested in more information, please contact Coach McCormick at tmccormick@yorktown.k12.in.us

  23. I will be taking a travel team (Hoosier Hustle) to the Columbus Day Duals in PA in early October. (Oct. 7-8) We are in need of a 160 and a 182 for this team/event. + 3 lbs allowance. Preferably looking for wrestlers who have been semi-state qual. (to ticket round); state qualifiers; or state placers. This is a pretty competitive event with top notch teams from primarily the eastern states. Will wrestle 8 duals at this event. Hoosier Hustle currently has 7 state qual./placers; and 4 semi-state qualifiers on board. There will be a custom 2-piece competition uniform for team members on this trip. If you are a fall-sport athlete, we do have a mechanism in place for fall-sport athletes to compete with us at this club event. If interested, please contact Coach McCormick at tmccormick@yorktown.k12.in.us for further details.
