  1. Showing my age here....... Early 80's Delta's David Palmer was a beast for a couple of years or maybe even more. He was totally dominant and untouchable. I believe my high school had a very good wrestler that was beaten by him two years in a row in the State finals.
  2. It was a special weekend at the Ford for me and my family as my son coached his 2nd State champ in 8 years of being a head coach. Congrats to Luke and his family and to all the Oriole wrestling family on his fantastic weekend. It was extra special in front of our hometown for probably the only time our city will host a wresting state championship weekend. It was a pleasant 10 minute drive The downside was that it had to be against another westside families wrestler that we respect and admire so very much. The ticket debacle was a nightmare! Not sure what happened or if we will ever find out the truth about #ticketgate2024. I do know people from the Ford and I spoke with the ticket office manager who said it was a ticketmaster problem. I feel we as fans of wrestling got totally hosed by ticketmaster again on paying high fees on tickets and then having to go pick them up at the ticket office. I was told there may be refunds issued on our fees. Not holding my breath on that. Did they set a limit on actual ticket sales? Was the unused seats part of the original plan by ticketmaster to not oversell? Which I don't understand. Why couldn't you purchase tickets online Saturday, because it showed it being a "sellout or unavailable" Many people I know in town didn't come because of the unavailable tickets. Event was promoted well in Evansville and I really expected more of a hometown crowd. I think the Ford Center did a fantastic job and I think everyone was mostly happy about our facility and accommodations for the event. There are many casual wrestling fans in southern IN that might not make a trip anymore to Indy every year that I expected to be at the Ford, but the crowd attendance showed differently. I truly believe that the ticketmaster problems, maybe weather a little bit, and maybe just economic reasons (household tight budgets) are all factors in the low attendance.
  3. Completely agree and I really believe the IHSAA could care less about providing anything more than crowning a state champ.
  4. Great weekend of wrestling and extra special for me, as my son was able to coach his 2nd state champ in his hometown tonight! I just don't understand the empty seating mystery at the Ford tonight. I was told by text messages today from two different people that the wrestling was sold out tonight and was curious if I had gotten a ticket. They were unable to purchase tickets online, because of all tickets being sold out. So Ticketmaster must be playing games with the seating or someone is buying a lot of tickets and not coming. Plenty of seats at every session this weekend. What is going on???
  5. 132 had a good one to rewatch. Thrine and Scheoff could of gone either way. There was a definite missed TD call for Scheoff. Great wrestling by Schoeff pushing Thrine to the very end.
  6. Try either of these two great off the beaten path small breakfast places:Libby and Mom's https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063523784772 and Savannah's https://www.facebook.com/savannahscafe Both are super affordable with a hearty quantity and good quality of food!
  7. Presently, I count less than 500 tickets left on the site.
  8. I had section 121 and now it shows 206. This is just crazy. It also shows that "All Session" tickets will still be picked up at will call. WTH!!!
  9. #Ticketmaster"............the only company/job (besides a weatherman) that you can screw up and still have a company/job. You might add IHSAA athletic state commissioners to that list after the last few years. It just might be easier to get Taylor Swift tickets than IHSAA State Wrestling tickets
  10. I would be curious to know how other state wrestling series tourneys do there thing. Do other states have a high school authority that really gives no public knowledge to how they select brackets? Why not have a selection show online with a draw??
  11. As a westsider the recruiting thing just makes me laugh when I speak to friends from up North. One thing that has helped keep Southern IN wrestling and yes also MD wrestling better is pretty simple: MCW Club. That's a simple fact!
  12. I just don't see why MD would ever make a move down. Coach Schaefer definitely had his team ready to perform yesterday. Kids today might not know of the 70's, 80's, 90's or even 2000's MD history as well, but you will always have a tough battle from a MD wrestler even if their foe has a superior talent or skill.
  13. Totally agree with parents getting tickets first. Why not all session tickets? Seems like that would make it be a lot smoother.
  14. This is a complete mess AGAIN. As a wrestling fan and former parent of wrestlers, and now having a son who is a head coach. I can not imagine the frustration of trying to coach your wrestlers for this weekend, scheduling the logistics of attending state, keeping you wrestlers parents informed, and still have to handle a job or classroom duties this week just to be able to attend an IHSAA state event. No other IHSAA sport as this problem that I'm aware of. After last years ticketgate2022, I sent Commissioner Neidig an email on what I thought was the worst experience of any state wrestling event ever, because of the handling of ticket sales. Didn't even get a response back. Someone needs to be fired or seriously be removed from their duties from this ticket fiasco. The IHSAA website still shows $25 ALL Session tickets! Sounds like that's not going to happen. Where have you ever been forced to buy tickets online the night before an event. Please whoever is on the virtual meeting on Tuesday speak out about this debacle. It's one thing to be preparing for the greatest weekend in your son/daughter HS career and then to worry about tickets is ridiculous.
  15. "The scale" is still undefeated and very easily could be ranked
  16. But does it still matter on how much a wrestler weighs if he is going back to the lighter weight class?
  17. Who needs to go to State!!!! EVV SS has got all the fireworks this year. Incredible!!!!
  18. Every year all we say to each wrestler "......is just advance each week during the state series". This year that is even going to be even more important. With contact tracing and COVID challenges, this could be the year that possibly there is going to be a lot of "dark horses" winning state or placing high. I believe we will be talking about a lot of these dark horses come State time.
  19. He's been at a very high level for awhile He did an exceptional job who seemed to know a little about what he was speaking about
  20. Current New Palestine HC and former Evansville Reitz 2009 Alex Johns 197-15
