  1. The gold background with blue text is much easier on the eyes than the blue background and yellow text. The yellow text made mt eyes water. One thing - When the High School Wrestling group opened to the unread posts I didn't see an obvious way to view all posts and not just the unread ones. I guess that clicking the group name in the path above might do it and that worked, but it would help to have a "View All Posts" link or button somewhere on the unread posts list.
  2. MattM may be right. I saw Derek Roe in the team picture, but he's not listed below. Nice to see Tyson Bercot giving it another shot.
  3. Those that can, do. That that can't, run tournaments. - To misquote an old adage. That's why you only see me working tournaments. That and I'm old, fat, and out-of-shape.
  4. Joe, The banner and navigation bar on the home page are centered, but the remaining two columns below the navigation are not. Could they be or are there columns there that are prohibiting it. It's not a big deal, but I use wide monitors at work and the screen looks off center. Phil
  5. The newspaper included a picture. Guess the web has different standards. If you want a copy I'll save ours. You gonna be at AC's duals on the 23rd? Or, where's the new job at? If its close to I69/Coldwater we can meet for lunch sometime. Either way, congrats on the new job. Hope you like it.
  6. Guess who got their name in the Sunday paper: http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20120610/BIZ03/306109964/1100/BIZ03 and it wasn't in the obituaries or Crime Stoppers like you might expect. Joe - Do they know how much time you work on the IndianaMat site during the week?
  7. Heard Mike Greenberg say that their cheer at Northwestern was: That's alright, That's OK. You're going to work for us some day
  8. I like what Mr. Faulkens said, but he also said he didn't have a problem giving the IHSWCA an exemption form the weigh ins count. Then, Bobby Cox overturned his decision/opinion. Better get Mr. Cox's signature on any document that Mr. Faulkens sends so we don't get another curve ball thrown at us after the season starts.
  9. The Leo wrestler was Mark Toarmina. I may have the first name wrong. He also had a brother who wasn't as good of a wrestler. He wrestled around the 138-145 range and placed again the next year. He was also the coach at Leo for a few years.
  10. If they'd implement #2 & #3 they should also change the definition of a major decision and tech fall to something like 12 and 20. If points are easier to come by the wrestler should have to score more to benefit his team. I don't like #2 especially. I see too many wrestlers now that don't work for the fall and rely on their advantage on their feet. I could live with the others (1 and 4-6). Not sure if #5 would have much effect on most tournaments, tough.
  11. Qualifiers by Regional: Carrol 16 Goshen 13 Jay County 20 Peru 7 Qualifiers by Sectional: Carroll 10 Delta 7 Elkhart Memorial 7 Jay County 13 New Haven 6 Oak Hill 3 Peru 4 Westview 6
  12. That wasn't aimed at wrestling coaches. Most of them know what its like to search the hallways trying to fill an open weight. They wouldn't discourage kids from doing other sports when they need the kids from those sports to wrestle. Too many other sports want kids to stick to their sport only and do it year round or "lift" in the off season. They don't realize that wrestling will improve their conditioning more than lifting.
  13. If you want to be a great coach you have to focus on only one sport, not several. Oh wait, that's what we tell the athletes, not the coaches.
  14. I t looks like the replacement factor is making the difference. Busco only has one senior and he didn't make it past regionals. South Adams has 4 seniors and they are all in the semi-state. They are going to have to replace more points next year than Busco.
  15. I think they're called girdles. ;D I wonder if I laced one tight enough I could finally be 6 feet tall instead of 5 foot 8?
  16. Conseco was also bought out by Bankers Life, so the company doesn't exist under that name anymore.
  17. Thanks, Caleb. That's exactly what I needed.
  18. Anyone know who placed 5th/6th at Westview? Don't need the wrestlers, just the schools. They're the only sectional in the FW semi-state whose results aren't on the IHSAA site. ih
  19. The IHSAA still sends a template because sometimes one sectional is the top bracket and sometimes the other is. Dumb, like it matters whether you're green or red in the finals match. A lot of referees change it anyway based on singlet color to make it easier to keep straight.
  20. I think all sectional seeding meetings are Monday night. After sectional the IHSAA uses a template to determine match-ups, so those will be available on Sunday.

Another problem here: Isaac Steury is wrestling 160 and Landers is at 170. It will Luginbill vs Steury, still a really good match, and Landers against Webber.
  22. When no wrestler would admit to making a mess I heard one coach say "OK, who am I already ticked at? YOU - go clean it up."
  23. Also, the sectional champion criteria only applies if he was champion in the same weight class last year. If he changed weights it has no bearing on seeding. Since most of the weights changed this year the IHSAA is using the weight class number rather than actual weight, i.e. 106 = 103 from last year, 113 = 112, etc.

No, Steury was sick the night we AC and Leo wrestled.
