  1. yep.. folkstyle state and a freestyle match..... close matches, they trained together alot during much of offseason..... riley is a very good wrestler and i hope he will be fully healthy from his leg injury and able to wrestle at a high level this year
  2. 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th place finishes for Indiana wrestlers... good showing from all the young men who made the trip...
  3. thanks for the work you do.... i noticed 2 New Castle wrestlers at 119.... chat tonight should be fun....
  4. when will semifinals start?
  5. Coach Tonte, I do enjoy the Team Series and think it is very exciting. My point I was trying to make is that I don't think we should jump to the conclusion that wrestling is now in trouble because the IHSAA is taking this away from us. We can continue to grow our sport and continue to have great wrestling.
  6. Why the talk that losing the team series will hurt or kill wrestling in Indiana. Did the team series really bring that many more people to the sport? Did a bunch of non-traditional wrestling powers develop since the implimentation of the state series? I was a fan of the team series, but I do have to wonder why all the gloom over losing the team portion and the implications it will have on the sport of wrestling. I do understand that when you get something you never want to give it up, but the gloomy attitude seems a bit much. Y2 said it best when he said that the team series is pretty much for 16-20 teams, so has it truly done anything for the sport as a whole in the state of Indiana? Maybe that is our fault as coaches.
  7. Yorktown will have a minimum of 5 with a possibility of 8. They will be strong once again this year.
  8. LN is a big school. Where exactly will the meeting be taking place at in LN? I have never been to a meeting and am considering going. Thanks
  9. any wrestlers doing some good things on the gridiron this year????
  10. Bellmomt will be better, but Yorktown will still be very solid. I look for this to be another quality, intense dual with the same outcome as last time.
  11. If CP is getting kids to go to there school. then lets be honest, they are by far not the only one inb the state doing this. There are two different ways to look at things now: join the best and get better or get better and beat the best Even in pro sports now players are getting together to choose what team they want to play for.... And with school starting either now, or real soon, for all schools in the state, we will have a better picture of what wrestlers are going to what schools very soon.....
  12. So, anyone going let the cat out of the bag???
  13. Congrats to the Caprino family on the new addition....
  14. Keep the stop signs rolling in... congrats

    Good luck Mitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. how is this substance? Did anyone not expect him to do these things?
  17. I need to move up north because there are no part time jobs here. Our unemployment rate is high and adults are fighting kids for the $6.50 an hour job here.
  18. tspray: do u recall how much it was for the Schoolboy Duals?
  19. Greco Gold: Jacob Newton went 7-0
  20. I would say that the costs has risen due to the economic downfall. Money is an issue. And yes, you can go out and get sponsors and donations, but you can only do that so many times and there are more and more people doing that now so the donations are less and less. To simply say it can not be an economic issue can not be sincere. I spent time on the phone trying to get schoolboys, cadets and juniors. The reason for not going on the trips was money. $1,000 here, $450 there, etc. does add up and even fundraising has some limitations.
  21. Very few, if any, second teams filled a full roster. The overwhelming majority of teams outside of the top 8 in freestyle did not fill a full roster either. Indiana was one of numerous teams to have forfeits, although our greco blue forfeits were very high as were our freestyle blue forfeits. Freestyle blue was actually able to win 2 duals ans was forfeiting the last 4 weight classes. Oklahama has a unique way of fielding their second team. Their second team is ALL 1st year schoolboys. If a 1st year schoolboy is best in weight then that wrestler is on the top team, but another 1st year schoolboy goes on the 2nd team. They dont worry about the 22nd team results, but rather about getting them the experience of wrestling in the duals. I was very proud at how all 4 Indiana teams wrestled this past weekend.
