WarrenWrestlingAcademy reacted to Y2CJ41 in An Idea to Think About.
I fully understand parents believing kids will have more success at a different school. Personally, we moved three years ago and we wanted to be in a certain school district and paid a price in increased housing costs and a double mortgage to do so. This was of course when my daughter was going into kindergarten and athletics were not in the picture.
The rampant transferring over the past few years is getting to the point where we actually have a Google doc to keep up with them for rankings purposes. It doesn't seem to be much better and only getting worse.
The trend is not good for the future of the sport. It won't take much for a couple schools to drop the sport then a snowball affect will happen and instead of finding a coach schools just cancel the program. When this happens it will be quick and sudden with very little time to react. As with college programs wrestling people need to be PRO-active instead of RE-active in this.
The IHSAA's hands are tied as no matter the rule there will be people that find a way around it. In Michigan and Ohio they are starting to crack down on kids transferring, however when you do that legitimate transfers get dinged at the same time.
This is not a classed issue, but lets be real no one is transferring from a 6A school to a 2A school. The perceived or real advantages or bigger schools will always win out.
There is no easy or good solution other than encouraging parents to keep their kids at the school they started at. More than anything peer pressure will do more than any IHSAA regulation.

What an awesome camp today. Thanks to Nick Hull and Pride for putting it together. Some of the best clinicians/coaches around. AJ Schopp, Stephen Abas, and Mike “Mal” Malinconico. They kept the wrestlers working and entertained. If you get a chance to get any of them in the room I strongly recommend it. 90+ wrestlers from around the state from elementary to college. PM and WC combined with at least 50 wrestlers. It’s fun watching kids from MD, Warren, Cathedral, Perry, and many more hanging out and working hard.

What a great room! Full college team plus high school hammers. Brayton Lee, Ty Mills, Graham Rooms, Cayden Rooks, and Logan Bailey! We hope to see more high school kids at our next practice.

WarrenWrestlingAcademy reacted to julio in Women's Wrestling
The NAIA just granted invitational status for Women's Wrestling. This means that after 2 years and 40 schools having wrestling, currently there are 25, it would be recognize as a championship sport by the NAIA. NAIA is the first division to recognize women's wrestling.

We are pumped for tomorrow's RTC!!! I have known Coach Pompei for some time now and the things he has accomplished at Indiana Tech is nothing short of incredible! This year alone, his team won their conference with 5 individual champs, 7 national qualifiers, 6 All-Americans at Nationals, 7 scholar athletes, and another top ten finish! Coach Pompei will be showing some great technique and there will be plenty of time to grind it out with some of Indiana's best! Make sure you are there!!!
Door 14
starts at 6:00pm
Be there. Work Hard. Get better.

WOW! Brayton Lee, Asa Garcia, the Conley Bros, Antwaun Graves & Pierson, Brayden Lowery.. Just to name a few. I couldn’t tell you the last time I was in a high school room that was as competitive as last night’s room.
Needless to say, if the #1 recruit in the country at 152lbs is taking advantage of his RTCs, then what is your excuse?
Thanks Coach Tonte, Coach Krulik, Coach Morgan, and the other 15 assistant wrestling coaches at Warren Central What you guys are doing for the sport is great! Have pride in Indiana wrestling!

WarrenWrestlingAcademy reacted to Y2CJ41 in Freshman/sophomore state placer who qualified
The difference is age groups and qualifications basically. Just another way to get some mat time. I generally think this event helped keep some of our kids in the room the past few weeks which is always a good thing.

WarrenWrestlingAcademy reacted to wwatson in Middle school state how it went
I hope this group who are looking into it will improve the experience.
Change the Venue, full mats, move the date of MS state closer to the date of Council Bluff Iowa, have a qualifier 50 plus kids in a bracket to be complete in one day is not good for any wrestlers, scratch weigh ins, seeding should never be trackwrestling.
The weighin card was an improvement.
Good luck to those who will be wrestling in this event in the future.

WarrenWrestlingAcademy got a reaction from Coach Masters in Frosh/Soph State questions
Pasted from flyer
Central District Qualifier … We are adding a “last-chance” qualifier on the following Sunday (February 18th) at the Indy Nationals tournament at the University of Indianapolis. We already have a High School Division, and thanks to the software technology of TrackWrestling, we can separate and export Indiana High School Freshman and Sophomore results from this event into the Frosh-Soph State Championships. This will be limited to the top 8 Indiana Frosh-Soph finishers per weight class. As an example, an Indiana Frosh-Soph wrestler might finish 15th in a weight class, but if he/she is in the top 8 of Indiana Frosh-Soph wrestlers, that wrestler will qualify. For State Frosh-Soph Championship qualification purposes a wrestler is only competing with other Indiana Freshmen and Sophomores.
