  1. How did the Indiana Teams do? Any official results from coaches?
  2. Sig...Please update when possible. Always looking forward to your insights. Thanks
  3. It is a step in the right direction. If the X team does not work out, perhaps the powers that be can have a list of Indy kids or from wherever also weigh in with the teams. In the event a kid from A team gets injured or withdraws for whatever reason, the B team will not lose a wrestler like in the past. I mention Indy area kids because not too many parents are willing to spend four nights in Indy hotels for a maybe phone call. I also thought it would be a neat idea to have the Schoolboy team leaders coordinate renting a house big enough to hold the SB Teams and just split the cost among the parents. At least it is an alternate idea for hotel or at the very least a block of rooms at nearby hotel. Not everyone lives close to Indy,
  4. Is the ISWA requirement of 2 local Freestyle tournament qualifiers still a thing to wrestle Freestyle State this year? Asking for a friend..
  5. Would it be wrong to limit kids above .500 only to MS state to reduce crazy size of brackets and getting done near midnight? ISWA needs numbers to help grow sport and continued support of age group endeavors. Long day but would not change present format.
  6. Not sure of “you all” but for me it was not knowing the area of back required to touch the mat for a pin...but the criteria of required time. Can anyone show the clock on track and the roll through from start to finish? Two second is long enough to get a takedown. Seen this at State Finals many years ago. A roll through would have to be near slow motion. We can agree to disagree as I know my opinion.
  7. Define brief? How long do you think a wrestler needs to be flat in HS rules? Robbery in Broad daylight in front of 10,000 people.
  8. The back exposure was no longer than any type of roll through tilt. It was not pretty but not a pin, imo. This kid has such a bright future outside of wrestling maybe he will look back and laugh about the time the ref said he pinned himself. Well mannered, humbleness and self composure are rare traits these days.
  9. When I watched it live, I was as stunned as the kid that got the "so called" pin.
  10. Well after seeing mini tournaments sanctioned as a qualifier at the big clubs/academy, I had an idea. Most of us are short on time to squeeze qualifiers during the short F/S season. Parents make the time for the wrestle offs for ISWA Heartland team. (Perhaps ISWA will send teams to Kingsport in the future as well) Just maybe, during the wrestle offs for these teams..require the kids already there wrestle free style bouts after their folkstyle wrestle offs. This would be a win-win situation. Lose an extra hour there, gain a freestyle qualifier. Two Birds, One Stone.
  11. The killing of Freestyle by Folkstyle is hard for me to watch. I asked many parents " Why isn't your little guy wrestling Freestyle and/or Greco? " Top 3 answers: 1. He doesn't understand it. 2. They do not give rides for freestyle. 3. Not enough weekends to get 2 qualifiers . The first two ones are easy to answer. 1. Wrestle at a local RTC or even local club that wrestles until Freestyle State. 2. Fargo is the biggest tournament in the world with the most college coaches watching which btw is Freestyle and Greco. What is more impressive....a Folkstyle State Champ or a Freestyle National Champ who won in a weight class that was stacked with state champs? Who would you recruit? 3. Not so much easily explained. Please ISWA lets update some requirements.....let's make our future Fargo Teams even better by not restricting the kiddies.
  12. These parents are spending thousands of dollars a year on travel expenses to out of state and Indy tournaments, academy and/or club membership fees, private coaching lessons, etc. for their kid to compete at a high level...why not have the same parents pay $20 entry fee to the local club (that is hosting the freestyle qualifier tournament they are missing) as a donation as a condition of exemption for the ISWA team kids. This would lessen the host club burden and the team parents burden of schedule conflicts. Win-Win again for the time v/s money issue.
  13. Everyone here is interested in continuously improving the quality of Indiana wrestling. The ISWA board members, coaches, parents, volunteers, family...we all witness the blood, sweat and tears poured into this sport. Who doesn't support our youth wrestlers? Why make any top tier youth wrestler that qualifies for an ISWA team, choose between the tournament they just qualified or a mandatory local F/S G/R tournament? No special treatment for any one kid. One criteria: Any kid that makes any ISWA dual team, they have an exemption for that weekend since they are wrestling for the state team. Any complaints? Well show up and make a team and you will get an exemption. Win-Win. You want the best true Triple Crown Winners? Make sure your are not forcing an Indiana Team member to pick and choose tournaments. Any parent will do whatever is best for their kid.
  14. I think it is about the limited weekends in April to qualify for Indiana FS/GR when you are in Iowa battling the toughest competition available for Team Indiana, earned by ISWA Heartland Duals wrestle off winners and Middle School State Champions. These kids would not break a sweat qualifying in the local F/S and G/R tournaments. We are talking about future Fargo All Americans and Champs.
  15. Sorry just seen this after posting in youth wrestling. Here is my post from over there. ----------------------------------------------- Compromise over Boycott. Here is a solution. I challenge the ISWA Board to vote on this: Any wrestler who is on any ISWA team going to National Middle Schools duals and/or Heartland duals should have an automatic exemption for one Freestyle qualifier per ISWA team event. This makes sense if any freestyle qualifier is held on the same weekend as the ISWA dual team tournaments. The wrestler parents are already supporting the ISWA by spending hundreds of dollars on the out of state tournaments. If their kid is doing both, over a thousand dollars when counting all travel expenses. Note that I stated exemptions not waivers. I do not think little Johnny should get a waiver because he had a baseball game. This is all about wrestling. I like freestyle way better than folkstyle, but during the month of April, that is the prime month to seek out top competition for the younger wrestlers who are not Cadets or Juniors. Do not penalize these kids because Freesyle and Greco States are in May. Most of these kids on these teams do not know off seasons and wrestle year around. They are at the Academy or Club training Freestyle and Greco. They already are training all styles for years to be ready for Fargo when they become Cadets and Juniors. They are the future of Indiana wrestling. Do not preach to the choir. We want the same thing. Making Indiana wrestling better and better.

  17. Once Red wins an NCCA title and lands on some World teams then, yeah they are equals......
  18. Is there any new RTC coming to Northern Indiana later this year?
