  1. Mike Goebel says, mike Goebel says that alligators are ornery because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush.
  2. Y2, I want to first admit that you are a really good debator, maybe even a masterdebator? I don't know that's up for debation. After I compliment your skills of arguing I'm going to try and learn from what you have done many many times in these class wrestling arguments. First, you break down peoples post into paragraph and dissect peoples sentences out of context to try and expose different meaning out of what they are saying... which is what you will more and likely do to this post. Second, you skew data by consistently calling MD class 3A which they are not! I'll agree 100% that they are an outlier based off the fact that what surrounds that school is an insane wrestling community that live, breed, breathe wrestling, however when someone suggest a fact that does not promote class wrestling, you throw that fact out the window and call it an outlier. Also, couldn't you say the top 5 wrestling states that have class wrestling are an outlier? How about we throw them out and consider them states with 1 class because they come from a community with strong ties to a great wrestling background. We then use this argument to say states that class wrestling ruin the sport. It makes no sense, you can not skew data. You will argue point 2 by saying MD will bump up. Doesn't this also go against many of your other points about classing the sport? You're gonna tell me that the MD coach will bump up his individuals from class A where they could have an absurd amount of champs and dominate the field (which would probably grow the confidence of 1A right). MD will bump up to 3A for team but would not take the opportunity away from the individuals to wrestle at 1A. That point being said brings me to point number 3 which you consistently mention kids in small schools are not as talented because of your "statistics." You then go on to mention that classing Indiana Wrestling will not water down the state tournament. Basically what you are proposing is classing state wrestling according to skill level. You are bumping up MD to 3A in all your stats and assuming that's what they will do because it fits your argument and because they're good. So 3A is not Big Schools? You will be proposing that we have State Champ of Good Schools, State Champ of ok Schools and State champ of Struggling Schools. This will then make struggling schools better and grow the sport. I believe you would say that statement is Ludacris! I want to leave a space so you have room to dissect this without taking it out of context. My fourth point has to be the fact that you claim people who argue for class wrestling primarily base there argument around emotion. I will make a thesis to this paragraph containing two points: wrestling is about emotion as it is a sport that teaches many life lessons, and I believe this is another place where you hypocritically contradict yourself as you use emotion in your argument. I don't care what any person for a one class system that we have says, you consistently come up with some reason to dispute it because you love to argue. They could say a fact that in a one class system semi-state qualifiers do get recruited and yes those coaches from private schools send letters, I might also add that it might seem that a person who places at state will be recruited by colleges more, all of this depends on other circumstances. I have not read very many if any post where you admit that there are pro's and con's to both systems? You fail to see anything benefical about our current system: true champ, exciting finals, feeling of accomplishment of being a state placer in this system? On to second point of my thesis so you can follow, the supporters of the one class system support what it stands for be it small school or big school. It has been stated earlier that wrestling in this system no matter how far the wrestler goes means a lot to that wrestler. This is coming from past wrestlers so it's first hand experience of their emotion of how our system is. To class our system by means of point 3 which is how you are proposing it by including MD in 3A is such a non-wrestling attitude at looking at this it sickens me. I can't beat the best at the system we currently have so let's class it and give me a medal anyway and then maybe college coaches will notice me and sport will grow. Is that your ideology? You argue that those kids won't know the difference and that a medal is a medal. A medal is just a piece of material. I saw an old teamstate medal on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-2003-Indiana-High-School-Wrestling-State-Championship-Medal-Mater-Dei-W-Box-/381337728206?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 You can buy that and put it on a shelf if that's how much the medal would mean to you. A medal is a symbol for all the hardwork and dedication that wrestler put in it. I believe wrestling probably tought the owner that lost that medal more than what the medal itself meant to him. My actual thoughts on the topic besides pointing out many of what I consider to be flaws in your argument would obviously be that I am for the single class system. I am aware of some of the advantages that a multi-class system might have when you look at Illinois, but I don't feel that Indiana has as much depth of wrestling at each level. There are not consistently enough wrestling communities, or ties to each background throughout our state to consider this a solid option for our sport. This is also backed by your "statistics". If there were a great majority of wrestling depth throughout the state to make each class very competitive then it would be a different story. Separating studs from the rest of the group does not sharpen the other wrestlers skills. In my opinion, I feel Indiana wrestling fans love the traditional setup we have. There might be houses for sale over in Illinois however if class wrestling emotionally means that much to you.
  3. I didn't say 14 individual statements in the first place, so that they could be picked apart and taken out of context. They were reasons that influenced each other. Also the argument that it must be the right way because 42 other states are doing it is flawed or that it's not an insane idea because 42 other states have it. Like ole Bobby, momma always says that just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean it's right? Question for you using facts for Wyoming and Idaho, is the quality of there wrestling or wrestlers improving? Big thing I want to mention is you're saying that you'd rather be a state champion in 1A because you would have a poster and a shiny ring and people would celebrate you is the wrong thing to teach kids. That's all the superficial stuff that means nothing without the reason of why you have those things. Also, I want to congratulate Bellmont because I'm taking nothing away from there accomplishments, To compare class system as team duals and individual tourney is two opposites bud. Bigger schools completely matter in team duals because of obvious reasons of having a bigger selection or pool to draw talent out of. That's what football and basketball are and why other sports need to be classed. In an individual tournament, it's different because it's not how good the rest of your team is, it's how good you are. So I certainly think if you class the individual tournament it takes the validity of saying your the best wrestler [champ] of your state. Also so your stats aren't valid stats if you manipulate them and use MD as 3A when they're not. I also feel as though MD would be an anomaly to most of your argument about the classed system and how bigger schools have the advantage. I think that's the beauty of wrestling is that especially in the individual tournament, ultimately is how far you want to go. I'm not saying team mates and coaches don't matter, but every coach know that if the wrestler is going to be good, they have to decide it and they have to decide how good. I'm not saying that smaller classes don't work hard because they have less champs. I'm saying that that they still have the same shot out on the Mat as the other kid. To say they don't is teaching them that in life if your not given the same opportunities or same resources to use as other people have well then don't work harder to get where you want or achieve want you want to ultimately achieve. We'll just help you and change things so that you can have the same thing.
  4. Just a question on your stats... Is MD considered 3A? If class system happens, does the school still get to bump there wrestlers up to the bigger class if they want too. . I would say class system is not rewarding to the wrestler because of the fact that being the best in your class is not the same as saying the best in your state. I understand the argument that bigger schools consistently produce more talent or state placers and state champs. However, as a big fan of Indiana Wrestling, what I love about it is the single class. Wrestling is essentially an individual sport which makes it the best sport because there's no one else to blame when you are out on the mat. It teaches a wrestler many things. I also believe in the life lesson it teaches of don't make excuses and adapt and overcome if you want to be the best. This means, don't blame that just because your from a smaller school means you can't be as good of a wrestler as someone from a bigger school. That's an insane idea. Big schools have more talent because they have more kids attending and more opportunities of getting talent at their school. There is no disadvantage though to a wrestler from a smaller school when he steps out on the mat with a wrestler from a bigger school. You can argue team mates to practice with. Well those team mates are now sitting in the stands watching and can't help the individual. A wrestler can be as good as HE/SHE wants to be. I just feel that if the system is classed, it takes a lot of the validity of being the best in the state away. I also feel that the size of the school is not a direct indicator to the talent level of wrestling at that school. The talent level of wrestling is directly affected by the hardwork and dedication put in by the coaches and by the INDIVIDUALS of the program. Also, the benefit of a one-class system for smaller schools is there is regionals and semi-state and other accomplishments you can make it too and feel rewarded about for accomplishing. I would rather say I wrestled with all the talent and lost in the ticket round than I won state but class 1A and I'll never have the chance or shot to prove my ability and see how I would do in the bigger classes.
  5. Where's a guy find a free snow cone? Also, congrats to egli on a good match and congrats to Black on a good season! Good luck to the other participants Fart out
  6. I'll take a shot with some more fun questions... for you and others. 1. Who has least amount of mat time this weekend? 2.What's you favorite move? 3. Of all the people that will be in Banker's stadium (including fans), whose the last person you would want to step on the mat with? Not best wrestler, but the baddest dude at the event 4. How many push ups can you do? 5. Last question, I never asked you, Do you like Guacamole? Fart out
  7. The pound for pound topic is irrelevant until we could ever get the chance to see the matches. No one knows who will beat who and all you have is your opinions which everyone has. A good question I have is when you have the opportunity to set this argument straight or make a name for yourself and get a credible win, why not take it? CJ had the chance at the team duals over Christmas time to bump and wrestle lee with nothing on the line. He didn't do it. This could be because he didn't want to lose and wanted you people to still have this discussion as a mystery, or it could be other reasons between him and his dad where they didn't feel it important enough to wrestle that match. The bottom line is CJ didn't care to set this pound for pound madness straight cause they don't feel this as important. What is important is who they will wrestle in their weight classes this weekend. Good luck to all those competing and I hope this pound for pound discussion and the ignorant guesses of who will beat who will stop until they are in the same weight. No one predicts who will win between Rypel and Red... Maybe because its ridiculous to compare people at different weights because of style changes. Also, for the Egli vs Black match, fartfry will be awaiting his snow cone at Bankers. Thanks for listening. Fart out
  8. He got hit for fleeing the the third penalty of the match which is two penalty points I believe.
  9. It is not just NICK Lee he should avoid.... but i agree if he wants to remain unbeaten and seem the best he should avoid
