    Crown Point vs. Valparaiso

    Crown Point
  2. Few Changes after Sectionals After looking at CP and Laporte sectionals I am going to try a Regional Prediction. 106: 1. Goin 2. Cortez 3. Jackson 4. Whitmer 113: 1. Frazier 2. Doan 3. Waters 4. Vitello 120: 1. Bettich 2. Diaz 3. Solomey 4. Cortez 126: 1. Roberson 2. Torres 3. Daniels 4. Adamczyk Szalajiko 132: 1. Mendez 2. Ponce 3. Contreras 4. Bennett 138: 1. Nisely 2. Kaiser 3. Krouse Tattini 4. Tattini Krouse 145: 1. Ellis 2. Cruz 3. Tillema 4. Thursby Rayson 152: 1. Hollis 2. Ponce 3. Johnson 4. Politt 160: 1. Hollendoner 2. Winiland Breedlove 3. Breedlove Winland 4. Dunlap 170: 1. Layman 2. Neff 3. Verbeek 4. Sneed 182: 1. Kwiatkowski 2. Alonso Rohweder 3. Wymer Jackson4. Browder 195: 1. Demarco 2. McElroy 3. DeGrado 4. Bergquist Alonso 220: 1. Bates 2. Alonso 3. Jonkman Woods 4. Woods Jonkman 285: 1. Velazquez Stoner 2. Garcia Whitenack 3. Stoner Velazquez 4. Whitenack Winkler I have Crown Point barely winning the Regional title advancing 10(6 champs) maybe 11 if Willems can reverse the win against Politt. Chesterton will have 11 with 4/3 champs. I have Lake Central taking 3rd advancing 8. Rounding out the individual champs I am predicting Lowell with 1 or 2 champs, lowell with 2, and Valpo with 1.
  3. My definition of a sleeper is someone outside of the top 4 that can win it. With that criteria these are mine. 113-Frazier 120-Freeman 126-Lowery, Pierson, Montgomery 138-Campbell 145-Cruz 152-Freije, Fitts, Law 285-Parsons
  4. 106: Goin(CP) over Cortez(LC) 113: Frazier(CP) over Doan(LC) 120: Bettich(CP) over Hall(Merr) 126: Roberson(CP) over Torres(Ches) 132: Mendez(CP) over Ponce(LC) 138: Kaiser(Ches) over Tattini(CP) 145: Ellis(Ches) over Cruz(CP) 152: Johnson(Ches) over Willems(CP) 160: Dinger(CP) over Hegwood(Portage) 170: Layman(Ches) over Neff(LP) 182: Walton(Merr) over Kwiatkowski(VP) 195: Williams(Merr) over Demarco(Ches) 220:Bates(Ches) over Streck(Merr) 285: Dancy(Portage) over Sparks(Merr) Crown Point as several guys out in the upper weights that will hurt their overall score. I think Chesterton wins(234) over Crown Point(214).
  5. If you wait a few years and look back at 126 in 2019 you might have the deepest. Potentially 4 state champs if Rioux wins 126 this year.
  6. Crown Point
  7. Tulsa Nationals deadline is tonight. Hopefully we see some of the kids mentioned above test themselves at one of the toughest youth events in the country. Champs in the 16U division usually turn out to be nationally ranked kids.

    Crown Point vs. Hobart

    Crown Point
  9. Even though Alex is a huge reason why Jesse has been successful, Jesse would never leave Crown Point. The coaching staff at CP is amazing. The only scenario where he leaves CP early is if he decides to go to the OTC his senior year, but it sounds like he wants to try and win state with his teammates. Plus his mom and me would like to keep him around a few more years.
  10. Mater Dei is definitely scary in dual or tournament format. I am just glad they have to go through the meat grinder called Evansville semi state, which might thin the herd.
  11. Tomorrow starts at 10am I believe. 9am central time
  12. I most definitely am not counting the other states. I am familiar with most of those kids and they don’t hold up to our number 1 and 2’s. Classic is probably the 2nd best in state tournament, just doesn’t hold up to Al Smith.
  13. Al Smith has 7 #1's and 8 #2's(15 total) compared to Mater Dei's 3 #1's and 2 #2's(5 total). I would have Al Smith champs taking 10 of the 14 from Mater Dei champs. I am familiar with the out of state kids in the lower weights at Mater Dei, but not sure about upper weight guys.
  14. I added the Semi State ranked guys to show the tournaments depth.
  15. I believe their High School broadcast the finals. That is the only time during both days that anything is aired. The brackets are normally on track though.

    Crown Point vs. Lake Central

    Crown Point
  18. twitter is going wild with the RT's. Christian Pyles from Flo said 'The most electric wrestling moment of 2019'. Bryce Meredith and Reece Humphrey also retweeted and commented.
  19. I ran some numbers for Crown Point in a dual setting vs Cathedral, Brownsburg, EMD, and Warren. Crown Point vs Cathedral 30-35 (1 match our way 33-32) Crown Point vs Brownsburg 30-34 Crown Point vs EMD 24-28 (1 match our way 27-25) Crown Point vs Warren 39-27 These numbers do not reflect why we are not at team state. I hear we may be moving our schedule around to make room for team state next year, just wasn't able to make it happen this year. If we were in it this year it probably would not go too well. I do believe that Crown Point can win state in a tournament setting.

  21. We are never happy with losses, but I am proud of him for bumping up and helping his team win this dual. The final score was 7-4. Jesse was winning 3-1 going in to the 3rd and got a little over zealous trying to get a fall and ended up giving up a reversal. After an escape he gave up a late take down with 19 seconds left in the match. With time expiring Jesse put himself in danger trying to get a reversal and gave up 2 near fall. On a positive note Crown Point held their own in Illinois beating OPRF and Dekalb. Full team effort with guys getting falls, bumping up, and in some cases guys just staying off their back. I can do a break down of all 3 duals, just not sure who the Illinois kids were in some matches.

  23. Just looking at guys outside of top 8. lane Gilbert, Cody Goodwin, Orlando Cruz, and Leighton Jones.
  24. I hear Freeman has no intention on going down to 120.
