  1. Yes that is true. It was a great run me made. That was with 2 full time wrestlers and several others that put in extra work. With 1 of those medal winners only getting 1 full year of HS wrestling. Injuries kept him from his true potential. Maybe the next couple of years we might be able to do it again.
  2. I would say Adam Central and Prairie Heights had more qualifiers and medal winners 15 -20 years ago. Both of those schools have a wrestling culture and kids that wrestle year around. Basketball despised going to a class tournament. Let's ask and see if they want a single class back. Probably not. Being able to compete in a sectional or for a state title is within reach.
  3. How many schools weigh in for each dual also. In our area we can't fill the old middle school weight classes. That was only 17 adding 5 more just creates more forfeits.
  4. Unfortunately It's part of a lot of schools system. It needs called more on everyone. As do injury time. Seen several of those also. Get a rest and score within seconds of the restart.
  5. Sadly part of our group has been moved again thjs morning.
  6. Yes that is correct. I've read of others having the same issue.
  7. We just picked up our tickets that where in section 206. But got moved to an end row in section 111. We had our group all close to each other. Not anymore.
  8. How about the best wrestler that day. He wins he advances. The best have bad days. Not separating so called best kids to please the big programs. Separating big programs only helps them and takes away from smaller programs ability ro have success.
  9. She lost a match to CN during a boys dual meet. Both were girls.
  10. Those with their head in the sand. If you can't see it we can't explain it to you.
  11. It is absolutely true about fielding a competitive Team. Most small schools have do do it with 15 - 20 kids at most. If all sports went back to 1 class we would be hearing the same arguments from them. Center Grove football 150 kids against 35 kids fron Central Noble sounds like an even game. It's 11 versus 11 completely equal right. All the players have the same opportunities to be on a even playing field correct.
  12. Those that have never had the struggles of small school environment will never understand. If we have class wrestling they don't have the little guys to beat up on. They have to eliminate each other instead.
  13. Looks like all of Rochester changed.
  14. I am not down grading The Fort or Warrior Elete. The kids hitting these places are working thier butts off. You have provided the opportunities for all levels of kids. As we have talked the the high end wrestlers in our area just don't work out together like the Indy area. The next few years will show what those kids are doing. The Fort is the best place to train in Northern Iniana hands down.
  15. There are plenty of places to wrestle. I've been around awhile. It's the level of constant practice partners. If we could get the kids in the Ft Wayne area together 1-3 times a week we could close the gap a little. Unfortunately we have an abundance of small schools that depend on athletes to participate in multiple sports. Plus a large number are actually closer to Indy than Ft. Wayne. Again it comes down to opportunities which small schools can't provide. If you think otherwise leave your big school and transfer to a school in a little community and see the difference.
  16. That doesn't really help your thinking. I can drive an hour + in all 4 directions and not have the availability of a room with just semi state qualifiers. Let alone multiple Medals and champions. We have kids in the NE part of the state that put the same amount of time in as said group. Just don't have 3-4 different Academies to bounce in and out of like Indy and the region.
  17. The only kids that transfer to small schools are for team sports that are classed. Only purpose is to chase a championship. Wrestlers transfer to high end wrestling schools to chase titles. This isn't anything new been going on for years. Some day we will give all kids the same chance at having success.
  18. I wiil not argue that at all. Tell City shoud be 1 or 2. PH is the one to watch for. They always come to wrestle. 1 A will be interesting in how all the match ups turn out.
  19. I think Central Noble is right there also. Looking at box score with Bluffton we match up well with SA. I could see a 7-7 Spit. With 2 swing matches. That puts us right there with Cowan. The top 4 at 1 A are separated from the rest. 5 thru 12 just becomes match ups and forfeits.
  20. Lets look at private school participation in all sports not just wrestling. They do play bye different rules. They have multiple state champions every year.
  21. I am right with you on that. There is a chance of adding another class to other " TEAM" sports. Why so more kids, schools and communities can enjoy success. That's right from my AD.
  22. Thank you for the HOF mention. I know exactly what young man you are referring to. He was my most driven kid I ever coached. One full season of HS wrestling is all he was able to get. He has so much to give back to the sport. I have tried to get him into a room he's just not ready yet. Hopefully he does someday. You state that class wrestling will not help small schools. Then say it's not happening anytime soon. It will take alot for it to ever happen unfortunately. So 10-15 years from now if Cascade has the same staff with 5-10 qualifiers and a couple of it's still not a disadvantage. If we had 2 classes the top 8 wouldn't change much at all. Add another 8 meadals that's alot more young men with experience to give back after their career is over. That is what would help our sport grow at all levels.
  23. Nope we just move from a power house program to a bigger and more powerful program. Why not a school that could use the help? It's so easy when your looking down at the rest of the state.
