  1. Will you be working in some folkstyle when the RTC resumes or will it still be freestyle and greco? Many kids are preparing for upcoming folkstyle events as well.
  2. Their 145 Mark Hall is an eighth grader, won high school state and is the number three ranked 145 in the country behind Tsirtsis. Wow! Looking at the brackest form state they had a lot of young wrestlers get to state.
  3. Looks like he dropped back to 113 for state. 3-Brock Morgan (8) 29-16 Looks like he didn't place though. http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/upload/MSHSL221813wrAAA12.htm#113
  4. There is a good movie called Takedowns and Falls about a Pennsylvania team on Netflix as well as The Hammer movie.
  5. I'm not sure what my sons coach is shooting for. No lifting, no conditioning, hour and a half practices, meets only one day a week if that. It's a 5A school so I don't know what to think. Even this week they only had 45 min practices. Most every guy gasses bad if it goes into third period, if OT they are done. I just keep motivating my son to do more out of practice to make up for it but its hard if the coach is not a motivator. I don't want to be one of those guys bashing a coach for sure, he is a nice guy.
  6. I think that middle school state should be 14 & under! I certainly don't think We should have 2nd year cadets wrestling a novice in the 6th grade. Also, I think that you should only be able to compete 3 years at middle school state. Regardless Of what grade they were held back in! As a parent, I would be ashamed of myself for Entering my kid as a second year cadet for a MIDDLE SCHOOL TOURNAMENT! I think If the IHSWCA would make these rule changes, that would help with mommy & daddy Holding their kids back for athletic reasons alone. I don't knock children being held back. As long as they actually need it. However, I still believe that a child who is held back should only be able to wrestle 3 years at middle school state. Coach Hunt @ Doe creek middle school Did this happen this year? I didn't find any second year cadets in the top of the weight classes around my son at 140. My son looks older but he just turned 15 in July and will be a Freshman this year and now will be a second year Cadet and was never held back. It all depends on when a kids birthday is. My sons birthday was in July, 2 days after the cutoff for entry to kindergarten so he is at the older end of the kids in his class, but it is not unusual. But, I do agree with your point that kids should not be held back to wrestle. My only though to justify a second year cadet being in middle school state is that some kids may not be academically or socially ready to start school when it is their "time" so they are held back from starting early on.
