  1. I had a great day and past 3 years coaching my son, although he didn't make it to semi-state, I will always cherish the time I got to spend with him in this great sport. The lessons he learned along the way will help him as he takes the next step in his journey to manhood. I would like to thank all the coaches in the region and state whom I have become friends with. With that being said, anyone interested in a head coaching job at Boone Grove please contact Boone Grove AD. In wrestling Dave Hinkel
  2. Ben Askern said he has never worn a pair of shoes that feel as good as the Snyders. I think they are made with quality in mind and should not only look great but last. If you are debating on style, I am a big fan of the Sly Fox. I think they are true to size with zero break in period.
  3. Saturday September 16th at River Point Golf Course in beautiful Hobart IN. George Lilovich who fathered both Joe and Dave Lilovich, both are currently in the Purdue hall of fame for wrestling, was an avid supporter of Purdue and Wrestling. His scholarship is for any individual who wrestled in high school and is pursuing a Major in Engineering at Purdue University. The golf outing or donations will help with the endowment of the scholarship on his behalf. If interested in playing or donating contact : dhinkel@therudis.com
  4. Darren Elkins of Portage won it 4 times.
  5. Harrison high school. Enter at Door 7. 6-730. Former state champions Quiroga and Farrell will be guests clinicians.
  6. A Group of former PU grads (12) recently and collectively formed a scholarship in memory of George Lilovcih. George just recently passed away, and this is a tribute to him and all he has done for Purdue University. Criteria. Purdue student studying Civil Engineering who wrestled in high school. This has nothing to do with athletics except for the fact that they had to have wrestled in high school. So it has nothing to do with being on the Purdue Wrestling team. I would like to make sure our Indiana wrestlers who are applying to Civil Engineering at Purdue know to include this on their application- that they wrestled in High School – otherwise there is no way for selection committee to know this. As of now but, subject to change Scholarship would follow the recipient through college for four years. Amount per year 2000-2500 a year.

  8. Still a club, still an outing to support wrestling and still a great time.
  9. Will be held at White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point IN, September 13th. 11:00 am shot gun start. Meet the new Purdue Coaching Staff and enter to win cool prizes including Jordan Burroughs gear.
  10. Cashe is a great young man, and I would like to say that his high school and college coaches did a great job. Thank you.
  11. Not sure how you expected me to keep Bobby at Merrillville, didn't realize I had that kind of power. I should get on Maldonado, oh wait, he wrestled at Iowa State. Dave Hinkel Just a teacher.
  12. Boilers looking good into the break. Keep up the hustle, and those singlets are sick.
  13. Post Super Bowl blues? Come catch the Boilers host the Buckeyes tomorrow night in West Lafayette. Purdue will be represented by 8 former Indiana stalwarts. We need Ohio to see how we support our teams and athletes.
  14. I would have to add the story of Purdue celebrating its 100th year of wrestling in 2013. Not many programs can boast such a run. If you look at the Boilers line up, it consist primarily of Indiana kids. Boiler up.
  15. Dr. Hart will be on location, just in case.
  16. 100 year reunion weekend at Purdue this Saturday. Tour of facility, Alumni matches and the Blue Demons are in town. This would be excellent for those of you in the "dad of the year" running. Go to www.purduesports.com to check out the details. Boiler up!
  17. Former boiler star A.J. Kissel has handcrafted a canoe to be raffled off this year. They retail from 3-5 grand. Get your ticket, limited tickets. $50.00 each, pictures soon of canoe on boiler elite web site.
  18. Sept 21st, 11 am at White Hawk golf course in Crown Point IN. Team title on the line. Go to www.boilerelite.com to register online.
  19. Go to http://elitelevelsportmarketing.com Vote for coach Scott Hinkel Indiana pride
  20. No doubt the best looking coaching tree would have been the Portage tree a decade ago. Something of a Victorian Plane or Torrey Pine. Majestic!
  21. Write it down in your daily planners. September 21st 2013. Crown Point IN, at White Hawk C.C. ALL fans of wrestling are welcome, even IU fans. It is always a good time.
  22. XCARD, how many footsweeps have you been hit with? I know that mine run into the 1000s. Of course that was for demonstration only, never in a match.
  23. As I remember the match, Blake Mauer won state at 171, weighed in at 189 then came out for the 215 match against Portage, in which he wrestled the Portage HWT, who cut from 275 over the previous year to make the line up. That was a collision of styles in which the Portage kid "Steve Jones" walked off the mat with a "what happened" look on his face.
