Official38's Achievements

  1. I have always enforced this the last two years when they have started wearing them, we pass the word to all of the officials, show them pictures and have presented this at rules meetings with coaches and officials present. This is considered special equipment and must be presented at weigh in to be checked for legality. Not when reporting to the mat just prior to wrestling.
  2. Rule Book Page 17 Rule 4-3 Section 3 Special Equipment Art 1 Special equipment is defined as any equipment worn that is not required by rule. Any equipment which does not permit normal movement of the joints and which prevents one's opponent from applying normal holds/maneuvers shall not be permitted. a. legal hair coverings attached to the ear guards, face masks, braces, casts, supports, eye protection and socks. b. any protective equipment which is hard and/or abrasive must be covered and properly padded with a closed-cell, slow recovery foam padding no less than 1/2 inch thick. Art. 2 All parts of a pad must fit snug against the wrestler's body. Loose pads are prohibited. A sleeve is not permitted. @yellowbelly12 picture is the proper protection of a knee pad or elbow pad. @lewdwar's pictures of a knee/elbow sleeve is not permitted. These can be altered if the sleeve at the top and bottom is shortened. But needs to be verified by the official. This was an issue a couple of years ago, if was brought to the attention of the NFHS, they are illegal because of the sleeve. Jim Russell IHSAA Rules Interpreter
  3. A contestant shall not wrestle more than one weight class above that class for which the actual weight, at that time of weigh-in, qualifies the competitor. Jim Russell IHSAA Rules Interpretur
  4. Stalling is to be called the same in overtime as the regular match with the exception of the ultimate tie breaker, it is not stalling in the ultimate tie breaker down on the mat, it is considered controlled wrestling, but while in the standing position it could be called stalling. Penalty sequence: 1st offense Stall Warning, 1st penalty 1 point, 2nd penalty 1 point, 3rd penalty 2 points, 4th penalty disqualification. In the 70's both wrestler's were disqualified for stalling in the State Championship match, there was no 1st or 2nd place. Jim Russell IHSAA Rules Interpreter
  5. I Graduated in 1972 From Danville HS, IN. I remember we had a growth allowance every year around Christmas, 2lb Jim Russell IHSAA Interpreter ;D
  6. Congratulations Tim on your Head Coaching job , when we were talking your passion was to be a teacher and a coach although you did a very nice job of officiating we hate to lose good young officials to the other side lol but I am sure of the effort you have made will pay off KEEP YOUR LICENSE UP TO DATE just in case, stay close to your official buddies also try and make the officials weekend keep in touch Thanks Jim Russell
  7. the one's that did not get put on the list in time usually are the most important to the sport at one time good people sometimes do not get noticed they are not there for the popularity
  8. What about officials Lou Hurrle, Jim Beeson, Jim Russell, Tom ladow, Jim Troyer the list goes on these people have put more than 35 yrs in each and some are still going without officials there is no match
