  3. lol V and M! We keep it mostly on our feet since guys are doing different styles. My guess is Mulkey and Walton keep it to leg attacks or counter offense. Walton does have a nasty chin whip so we may see some Greco!

  5. I'm still hanging around. (If you meant Grecoref, I still miss him too.) The benefits of Greco are outstanding. Unfortunately, not enough coaches fully understand the style and those benefits. And even worse are the coaches who actively discourage it. I don't think Greco is for beginner wrestlers, but training & competing at the regional, national, or international levels can take a good wrestler and make him/her much better with hand fighting, positioning, hip use, defense, etc. along with simply being more comfortable when an opponent ties up upperbody. Mid-upper weight wrestlers planning on competing in college should get some Greco experience because there is so much upper body positioning required at the next level. I like the triple crown award because it shows excellence in all 3 styles and a well rounded wrestler. And even if college coaches don't actively recruit Greco wrestlers, they do notice guys who do all styles.

  6. The Carmel RTC will continue through the summer. While we might be have the least traffic on instagram (I'm still waiting for this fad called the internet to go away, but apparently it isnt). We will continue to go on Wednesdays from 6:45-8:15 and now the college guys are starting to come in the room. Hatch, Timmerman and Doster will be driving over and we will be warming up, drilling and wrestling 3 min goes with 4 min breaks! Come battle with us if you're looking to get some matches.

  7. No.... someone is way to sensitive over here in these parts to let that happen. Zip it ?! Pistol loves Greco, in Greco you just go for it, take it, grab that bull by the horns or your going to be a victim of flying the friendly skies for 5. Woooooo .... Bang ! Bang ! Bang ! 9. This could be the greatest troll job ever. Started by innocently backing into a topic about something else to post a negative statement about the style. Then playing out the long con game of questioning the style with the intent of getting responses about Greco's importance. Even bringing in Snyder at one point to be your accomplice in poking the bear. Then finally finishing off with a challenge designed to actually increase Greco participation. Hats off to you sir. Well played.

  10. That's probably enough for light weights. But for many mid to upper weights it is more necessary to be well prepared for other attacks in situations where shots don't work.

  11. Oh you right my bad, we were IHSWCA state champions, which is also a goal! Team titles don’t grow on trees, they’re pretty hard to come by. We’ll continue to work on folkstyle, which has worked well for our Brownsburg staff, but thanks for the concern Hector!

  15. If you have not yet registered for the Leadership Academy at Pendleton Heights on May 12th, you can do so using the links in this thread. You will definitely need to get the 360 evaluation done and try to get through as much of the workbook as possible. Assistants can just do the 360 evaluation and share the workbook with the head coach. Looking forward to a great day with Coach Crowell. Call me if you have any questions. Dave Cloud 765-610-8150

  16. Great room again last night! It sure gets funky in there when you have Timberman, and Hatch showing technique. We appreciate those guys and Cory Cavanaugh for coming out a rolling, all kids had a lot of fun and we’re working hard! Back at it Next week Tuesday 5:30pm

  17. So you can't train both? More wrestling, regardless of style, is better than less wrestling.

    ISWA Freestlye State

Took my 5th grader (Novice 75) to his 1st ever ISWA State Freestyle tourney this past weekend and he said it was the most fun he had at a tourney. Day was fairly quick, definately quicker than a normal tourney, and he got to wrestle some great compition. We will deffinately be back next year to relive the great atmosphere.
