  1. I got to say this system is a lot more fairer than the IHSAA the previous team state system. What about the old system when you had two top teams in the same regional, then a top team in the state doesn't make it to the dual meet. For example, you had Brownsburg and Avon in the same regional this year. Since Brownsburg won the regional, Avon would have been out? You have top teams At least this system puts in the best teams into the competition and it also puts the competition at a time that its not competing against the individual state tournament at the same time. Now were arguing about whose 11th and 12th and most likely these last two team wont be much of a factor in the championship. I don't care how you slice it, there's always going to be a last guy out.

Heck yeah what a great room we had last night for our qualifier tourney! Mr. Caprino, luckily security was still at the school when Krulik tried walking his horse in so he had to load ol' girl back up into his trailer. Overall the numbers were out standing, I thought! We had Donte Winfield (champ) in the house working out and drilling with Mason Parris before the tourney started and we had Noah Warren (champ) show up and toss some kids around too! Tons of state medals there like, Mason Parris, Noah Warren, Lucas Waldenzak Logan Bailey, Bryer Hall, David Pierson, Antwaun Graves, Alex Mosconi, Logan Wagner, Brayden Lowry, Sammy Fair and qualifiers we had Alex Streuder, Jared Rowlett, Anthony Mosconi, Andrew Wilson and David Below, heck of room and tourney to be in if you ask me! Lewdwar, I'm glad you gave him a hug for us, if need be, we have some ribbons still in the trash he can have if he'd like and bluemonster I think Alex might've taken a left on Post instead of a right because we did not see him. Thank you all for coming out last night, hope to see practice like that next week and sorry if I forgot to mention someone!

  11. guys it is what it is. Madison beat South Dearborn this year with two of our starters out of the lineup and we didn't make the cut. This isn't a perfect system but its the best that we can do until the IHSAA grants extra weigh ins (which from what I hear will never happen) or the IHSAA reinstates team state. My team has been on the cusp of making team state for several years and it sucks but in the end is our goal to get every team that deserves to be at state there (which I will say we typically can count that our top 10 teams in each class make the cut) or is it to find out the very best team in each class?

  14. They just missed the vote-in process. Sadly, they forfeited a weight and had 4 guys not make it out of one of the thinner sectionals in the state. If they'd had one more guy make it to regional or had a warm body in that forfeited weight, they would have been in the vote-in discussion. It's true they beat Rochester head-to-head but remember scoring is heavily weighted toward returning guys and CA had 3 of their top guys graduate--meaning they bring back 10 compared to 14 starters from Rochester (I'm just speaking in terms of how scoring works...CA's incoming class could make them a force but that's not part of the scoring process.) They would have been an amazing candidate, sadly, with all the credentials they've got coming in for next year. They'll be very good for the next few years it seems. We just don't have a fair way to consider incoming 8th graders, move-ins, etc. before the voting process, so you've got to get that far at least first.

In all seriousness, can you remind me the weight class difference? If this is in regards specifically to the pics of Asa The one on the right is he @106 state champ. The one on the left is @126 champ. The young man has definitely put the work in. Seeing him at Ford Center this year, he was intense prior to his matches just pacing and awaiting his chance to get on the mat. With that intensity, he almost needs a Goldberg shirt "Who's Next"

The kid on the left is way bigger than the kid on the right. (Same hair, new tattoo- looking for the Roy Boy Award???) In all seriousness, can you remind me the weight class difference? The point is well taken, maturity matters. And it continues... take a look at David Taylor through the years:

  22. I just want to thank Joe and all the other people that put the time and effort to bring this event to Indiana and give our state the publicity it deserves on a National level. All of our wrestlers were very impressive and put up a great fight against the top kids in the country (win or lose). I appreciate Team USA coming to Indiana with a "nothing to gain, but everything to lose" situation. Ty was able to capitalize and take out his opponent and has gotten a flood of national publicity. Without all the work that was put into this, he would have not had this opportunity. We found out yesterday that he was named the National High School Wrestler of the Week by TheOpenMat. https://news.theopenmat.com/blog/2018/04/16/adidas-high-school-wrestler-week-apr-16th-2018/

  26. Money plays a big part.....overnight stay is what hurt us. We loved coming because it was great competition but our school isn't exactly willing to bleed money. On the other hand team state we coulda swung the school to financially back lol

  27. Well the articles actually saying out of the programs that now have new head coaches, IN had potential to scores the highest of that group based on the last 5 years of data. Those states looked at were South Dakota, West Virginia, Indiana, and Wisconsin. I wouldn’t really place SD and WV as even a mid-tier wrestling states in terms of total numbers. So IN should have more talent than those two state most years. Wisconsin is a little more on par with Indiana in terms of talent, but it looks like have out done them lately.. So yeah IN, a mid-teir state for wrestling talent, should do better than the others states listed. Heck I’d like to see the numbers of how IU or PU could do if they were able to pull in wrestlers from surrounding states. Sprinkle some stud recruits from OH, IL, Mich. into one of those lineups along with a few IN studs and look how the program turns around. IU and PU get some in-state guts now, but we the overall caliber of them could be better. The same could be said about Mid-West recruits to. IU and PU both get some but the overall caliber could be better. You also have to account for the fact that even if all talent did stay in-state at least a few wrestlers would realistically end up at Purdue. Heck they counted Purdue’s NCAA success towards the potential total IU could have had. While for the article comparison, WIS, SD, and WV wouldn’t have any legit DI schools with Wrestling to compete with their in-state talent. I get the point they want to make, but don’t read to much into the article. Should be be able to keep more top talent in state? Yes. Would that help improve the program? Definitely. But will all the hammers stay in state and if so would they all migrate to IU? That is highly unlikely. There are other perineal Top 10 programs who will always battle to get IN top studs even if IU starts hovering close to the Top 10. Then even if most stay, splitting the between our two DI program will limit the NCAA ceiling for either team. Saying the schools can do better in state is a given, and it should definitely be when compared two or even three of other schools listed.

  29. Just like the HS list its great recognition for the wrestlers regardless of the actual ranking they receive. Being anywhere on this list should be a compliment to their continued hard work. Those that deserve to be recognized will eventually make the list as they seek out more competition as the year progresses. Help the man improve the list by sending him information about solid results these MS wrestlers are having in top competition. It's hard enough to get HS wrestling results year round, so I know what an uphill battle it must be for Sig to find out how some of these MS wrestlers are doing other than when he notices the most elite competition are being ran on trackwrestling.
