  1. Yea no doubt. It cracks me up how on one thread were talking about Fattore walking through state and then the next were talking about Brewer having no competition in state. All while Warren is sitting back ranked #1 and having a great season. 170 should be fun at state.

I think your putting a lot of unneeded pressure on Carson. There are many studs in there. Fattore, warren and a few others as well. Carson is a stud and more than that a great kid. Have had the joy to wrestle on his teams many times and have seen him beat multiple national studs. Fattore and Warren and the others have as well. Just hate to see pressure on a kid when at that level they all know they have to wrestle their very best to compete for a championship.

Did you not see the results? Brewer beat a previously ranked kid 10-1 so therefore there is clearly no one in the state of Indiana that has a chance.

  5. Some of the best elementary wrestling that I’ve seen in a while. Wow!!! It was good. I want to congratulate Avon for making the championship match for the 8th straight year (every year they’ve had it). Also... big congrats to Center Grove on their back to back titles. Great team! On a personal note... I think that I’m retiring from coaching at the elementary level. It’s been a blast. Keep it rolling everyone! Brewer

The two teams were in different pools and did not wrestle in the cross over so both coaches agreed to wrestle the match at the end of the day. It’s great to see both coaches and wrestlers want this match to happen. So many times you see people shuffle around to avoid the big match up. Hats off to Zionsville and New Albany!

  8. This biggest issue is the seeding criteria (or lack of it). A few years back Asa and Alec Viduya met the first round. Alec wrestled 11 times that day to take true 2nd. That’s not good. The people who run it have been using track profile rankings to seed this. That is a severely flawed way of doing it. I have suggested the following seeding criteria for several years: 1. Returning middle school state champ 2. Returning middle school state placer 3. ISWA folkstyle schoolboy state champ 4. ISWA folkstyle schoolboy top 4 placer 5. ISWA folkstyle novice state champ 6. ISWA folkstyle novice top 4 placer

Brewer is tough that’s no doubt. I wouldn’t say he’s a lock and I simply say that because I had him punching his ticket last year and he got beat handily at semi state. Maybe he had an off day... this year I’ve got both Trizton and Brewer making it to State.

nobody's unbeatable but he's hitting his stride and he's the total package.. looked really good on top.. and he's a machine on his feet..Only time will tell but seeing him wrestle 10x this year and following his brecksville run tells me he's ready ..Yes Trizton always has trouble with him but brewer just looks like a d1 talent that's only getting better..Trizton has fell from rankings so the win might not wow ppl but me personally seeing Trizton beat ranked guys like Below,Willham,Gobeyn,Minnick,Potosky and numerous state placers and few champions from other states this summer I know how good he really is and the feather in brewers cap every time he beats Trizton..Im thankful for a kid like brewer because it keeps Trizton honest and hungry because he KNOWS there's a monster right down the road and he better keep trying to improve! Trizton WILL make some noise the tourney and regardless if he hasn't wrestled to his ability I'm proud of the kid especially knowing how hard it is to improve in the room he's in.. that's another story but Brewer is special and the rest of the state will soon enough find out what many of us already do.

I thought there might be a few guys that might have a shot but after seeing that result I'm not sure anyone in Indiana has a chance.

  23. Holy Cow!!! I remember the Griffith run like yesterday but I didn't realize they had that many career matches between them. 3 wrestlers with almost 700 wins. It doesn't surprise me Angel is the pin winner. Still my favorite Indiana wrestler, besides the ones I have coached of course.

  24. At first I thought this was about training and overtraining which is an issue with a lot of athletes, especially 3 sport athletes. But with further reading I understand how this could get confusing. My opinion, the coach knows the athlete and his style better than an "Academy" coach who doesn't know the athlete that well and does not want a brand new technique pushed on the kid mid season. OR you have the situation of "I was a sectional qualifier when I was in high school" type of parent who knows everything but has no idea what technique, style, pace etc. etc. his kid has because he does not see his kid in the wrestling room. Best way to find out, talk to the coach. Not at before or during practice for goodness sake. Which brings me to my next point, overtraining. It happens, and can cause a lot of atrophy in size, cardio, energy levels, and motivation. I made it to sectionals, so I know what I am talking about.
