  7. The Harrison Raiders drew the 9 seed which gives privilege of drawing under seeded Portage and the #TheYoungGunz. Toughest overall pool in my opinion. I see slim chances for Harrison pulling an upset in pool play, but they're going to enjoy swimming in the big boy pool none the less and will win some matches. Sounds like a better time hanging around the big boy pool than Brickfor6's plan of hanging at the Southlake Mall in Hobart throwing pennies in the reflection pool, and reflecting on how Hobart didn't make the show. Anyway Brickfor6, Victoria's Secret will has some special on under garments this weekend at the Southlake Mall. Anyway, if Harrison doesn't win a match in pool play, I foresee a good match up between Carroll and Harrison, because I don't think Carroll is going to win in pool play anyway which would result in a Carroll vs Harrison match. The good news for Harrison is that Y2CJ4 has provided some great bulletin board material for the Raiders in his famous "Committee of Power minutes" that disrespects the Raiders in Nazi Propaganda style format". Im just going to say Harrison is going to be fired up for that match if it happens, and Im going to call it the "Battle of the Bulge", and Harrison is going to be the good guys, and Carroll's colors are similar to the German Nazis.

    A Shot in the Dark

It’s actually finished and been making its rounds in the film festival circuit over the last several months. So likely they haven’t made a hard copy of it to purchase or rent yet. However, I know a few months back that I saw a version of the film either as a early online release, extended preview, or some type of ESPN related bio-doc. It told quite a bit of his senior year sort including his state tournament finish, so definitely more than a few min of a trailer. But for some reason I’m not able to pinpoint a online location now. It worry got pulled after they finished the final cut or it’s buried someplace that a little harder to find. I’ll check with another messsge board to see if someone can track it down.

  10. At the #The County Lawyer: Due to express written consent contracts, all references to #The County and #other trademarked expressions need to have # in front of it. As a result your post doesn't necessarily identify or distinguish #TheCounty and can be confused with the any of the other 91 counties in Indiana.

  16. Write up from Editor Josh Lowe of Intermat.com : The 57th edition of the nation’s oldest continuous running “holiday” tournament returns to Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School on Friday, December 29 and Saturday, December 30. The field will feature 47 teams in total, including 20 programs from northeast Ohio battling it out with a diverse field of teams from across Ohio, three from the state of Michigan, and two from Indana Featured from the teams this field are 157 wrestlers that have previously appeared in a state wrestling tournament. This includes fourteen wrestlers that were state champions in 2017: Jacob Lagoa (Ashtabula St. John); Julian Tagg (Brecksville); David Crawford (Canfield); Jacob and Jordan Decatur (CVCA); Ben Kamali, Kevon Davenport, and Cameron Amine (Detroit Catholic Central, Mich.); Zach Bellaire, Tyler Orrison, and Brandon Whitman (Dundee, Mich.); Brendon Fenton (Elyria); Kevon Freeman (Lake Catholic); and Austin Boone (Lowell, Mich.) An additional seven wrestlers finished second at their state tournament last year: Josh Edmond (Detroit Catholic Central, Mich.), Zach Shupp (Fairfield), Gio DiSabato (Hilliard Davidson), Colt Yinger (Nelsonville-York), Kris Rumph (Portage, Ind.), along with Gage Grunden and Sandro Ramirez (Wauseon). In all 79 members of the field placed in the top eight of their state tournament bracket last year. Seeking to repeat as team champion is Elyria, which had earned a third straight runner-up finish in the Division I state tournament at the end of last season, and a third straight semifinal (or better) finish in the state dual team event. The Pioneers enter the season ranked No. 38 in the country anchored by two-time state champion Brendon Fenton; returning state placers Mick Burnett, Dylan Shawver, and Josh Breeding; 2016 state placer Farouq Muhammed; and two-time state qualifier Matt Zuckerman. However, tournament debutant Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.) is the field’s highest ranked team at No. 10 in the country. The Shamrocks feature a trio of two-time state champions in Ben Kamali, Cameron Amine, and Kevon Davenport. Other key returnees include state runner-up Josh Edmond; returning state medalists Devin Johnsen, Rhett Newton, and Derek Gilcher; along with three additional state qualifiers. They are the defending dual team state champions in Michigan’s big-school division, earning that distinction in five of the last eight seasons. The host school, Brecksville, is ranked No. 16 nationally. Last season the Bees were quarterfinalists in the team state tournament, which broke a four year streak of semifinal (or better) advancements. At the individual tournament, they finished fifth, marking a fifth consecutive year of finishing inside the top five. The squad for head coach Todd Haverdill is led by returning state champion Julian Tagg, two-time state placer Gabe Tagg, state placers Marco Regalbuto and Zach D’Anna, state qualifiers Jimmy Carmany and Ethan Hatcher, along with incoming freshman Victor Voinovich. Two other teams in this field are ranked nationally, No. 30 Lowell (Mich.) and No. 36 Portage (Ind.). The Red Arrows won a fourth straight state dual team title last season. Individually they return state champion Austin Boone, two-time state placers Avery Mutschler and David Kruse, state placers Jeff Leach and Connor Nugent, along with five other state qualifiers. Tournament debutant Portage finished fifth in their single-class state tournament last season. The Indians are led by a pair of multi-time state placers in Kris Rumph and Kasper McIntosh; additional past or returning state placers include Jacob Moran, Brock Peele, and Colin Poynter; while Jeremy Torres and Anthony Maceo qualified for state last year Eight teams in this field finished as champion or runner-up in at least one of the dual meet or individual bracket state tournaments last year: Canfield (Division II individual runner-up), Detroit Catholic Central (Mich. – Division 1 state champions), Dundee (Mich. – Division 3 state runner-up), Elyria (Division I individual runner-up), Lowell (Mich. – Division 2 state champions), Milan Edision (Division III dual meet champions), Tuslaw (Division III dual meet runner-up), and Wauseon (Division II dual meet runner-up). On the individual side of things, five wrestlers will seek to repeat as champions in this year’s edition of the Brecksville Invitational Holiday Tournament (BIHT): Jordan Decatur, Kevon Freeman, Jake Marsh (Marysville), Brandon Whitman, and Antonio McCloud (Cincinnati Elder). Nine additional wrestlers seek to move one step higher on the podium after finishing as runner-up in a previous year: Julian Tagg, Dylan Shawver, Jordan Rosselli (Olentangy Liberty), Sandro Ramirez, and two-time Colt Yinger; runners-up from 2015 include Marco Regalbuto and Connor Brady (Olentangy Liberty); while Matt Cardello (CVCA) and Austin Murphy (Elder) were runner-up finishers in 2014. The BIHT would like to welcome all 47 teams to the event, in particular the eight teams making their overall debut in this event. Those include Avon (Ind.), Bridgeport, Claymont, Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.), Indian Valley, Portage (Ind.), Rootstown, and Tuslaw. A cordial welcome back is also given to two squads returning back to the event after hiatus: Keystone and Perry (Lake County).

We came from Putnam county. It was a no brainer for us. The academics are top notch. The sports programs are top notch. But, more importantly, the parental involvement is MUCH better. We love #paintrain and #thecounty. We also love the kids from Putnam county that put the work in. They have some studs. They know who they are and we will hear from them at the end of the season. Look forward to this Saturday FO SHO!

  31. Seems strange no predictions or chatter...interest waning as we await the never ending arrival of #TheYoungGunz? I'll roll #PainTrain over Portage in one semi...and PM over EMD in the other..#PainTrain rolls. Think the seeds will hold in 5-8 with #TheCounty over Roncalli and Penn(ProudPennSupporter) over CE. #TheCounty rolls to 5th..but wait til next year!!! Don't have much 2A/1A knowledge so won't pretend I do, but wish Jimtown could have avoided Ytown in semis. Everybody have fun! Great time.

I can't tell whether to take you seriously or if you're trying to be funny. Do you understand that the criteria posted on trackwrestling is irrelevant and just a guideline? Do you understand that they used IHSAA-directed seeding guidelines and seeded the tournament EXACTLY like sectional (which Jay has hosted since 2002)? Do you understand that they don't really care whether or not you were unaware of the actual seeding guidelines?

It kills me that nobody in Avon comments or cares about EMD and this dude trolls our team like crazy. Why the hate pal? Over the years I have met some great people from down there and not one has said anything negative to me about our fans or our kids. Furthermore, we have never posted that you will fail or any other negativity (that also goes for all other teams also). Sure we get nuts on this board, but it’s all in fun. Your tournament is great. Just think that we can get our tops dogs some good exposure in Ohio. Sorry that it is the same day as your great tourney. My son won it before and i was super proud. On a personal note I really wanted the 6th seed so we could wrestle you guys... Not because we hate your kids... because it would be a good match. I don’t mean to get deep about an anymomous troll poster... but man!!! You are kinda reaching stalker status.

  42. Not to hijack the thread, but it's a double edged sword with that. Problem with that is small schools mostly wrestling small schools it that it often ends up resulting in trading FF with few actual matches occurring. Wrestlers also lose interest much quicker when they work hard all week, put the work in to make weight, wake up early, travel far away, and spend most of the morning not getting any actual competition in. At least when you wrestle most big teams and some V2 teams they have a full roster which means your getting matches in individual even if at the end of the day the teams record hurting due to some FF's in the lineup.
